Direttamente da Boston, USA, sbarca in Italia il leggendario Jeff “MONOMAN” Conolly, leader carismatico di DMZ prima e LYRES poi, rispettivamente colonna portante del pre-punk americano con DICTATORS, DEAD BOYS e REAL KIDS i primi e stelle del movimento neo-garage degli anni ottanta, assieme a FUZZTONES, CHESTERFIELDKINGS e MIRACLE WORKERS i secondi.
Ed è proprio per riascoltare le indimenticabili Garage Hits dei fa-vo-lo-si LYRES che Mr. Conolly arriva nel nostro paese dove, armato della sua voce al vetriolo e della caratteristica ed inconfondibile Farfisa e supportato da una backing band d’eccezione, quegli italianissimi SICK ROSE che negli 80s si attestarono ai vertici assoluti del panorama Sixties europeo duellando ad armi pari con i colossi scandinavi che allora nel vecchio continente dettavano legge, a garanzia di qualità, stile e approccio a dir poco filologico e puro.
Non una semplice ospitata dunque, ma a tutti gli effetti un vero e proprio concerto dei LYRES della cui essenza di fatto Jeff rimane unico e solo depositario e non è un caso che da almeno una decina d’anni il nostro abbia deliberatamente scelto di non avere una band propria ma di appoggiarsi di volta in volta a gruppi di fiducia, scelti accuratamente nei vari paesi nei quali viene invitato per ricreare la LYRESmania, tra i quali vale la pena citare almeno gli americani HANCHMEN, gli olandesi NEDERBIETELS e gli svedesi MAGGOTS.
Prima dell’arrivo sul palco di MONOMAN e dell’espolsione del LYRES sound (con qualche inevitabile e gustosa puntata anche nei territori più Punk’n’Roll dei DMZ!), doveroso tributo al valore assoluto SICK ROSE che riproporranno alcuni dei loro classici, alternandoli a qualche pezzo tratto dal loro ultimo Album di recente uscita che li ha riportati prepotentemente agli onori della cronaca!!!
