Summer is upon us and Businessman Records have two new releases to foist upon you. First comes HELLO WAVE, a second album from the wonderful SWEET BABOO.
‘Sweet Baboo is one of the most genuinely original artists around. He is funny, emotional, smart and catchy, often in the same song.’ David Quantick
'An astonishing musician well worth investing time to listen to. His lyrical prowess, his beautifully dark songs and overall wonderfulness will make you want to clutch him to your bosom for a long while. One of Wales' finest.' Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1)
As well as the release of the CD, 10 videos were recorded to commemorate the making of the record. Taking the blueprint from the recording process, Steve and Cardiff director Ryan Owen headed out for two days' filming. Using no more than three takes, the videos, utilising Wales’ beautiful countryside, mirror the timelessness of the music and are another reminder of how much fun it was to make this record. The videos can also be viewed and downloaded for free at www.sweetbaboo.co.uk.
Next up, welcome to the label Cardiff indiepop collective LITTLE MY! Harri Davidson and his ever-growing cast of friends have been incredibly productive over the last three years and Little My's Eighth, their first release for Businessman, is unsurprisingly their eighth EP release in that short period. Brimming with enthusiasm, sparkling melodies and lyrics alternately cute, funny and bittersweet, these are lo-fi bedroom pop songs born of a restless creativity and played with joy.
You can order Little My's Eighth from the shop, and once you've done that, explore their world, back catalogue and cottage industry further at www.littlemy.org.
* we have 2 remixes up by dj_spleenbaby >> both of tracks from the as yet unreleased - read unfinished - cassette ep (it'll be out on shape when it is)
