Busted Spies are a rock band formed in Melbourne in 2006.The music could be described as a blend of alternative, modern and indie rock with guitar solos, sounding a little bit like Blind Melon and Stone Temple Pilots crossed with Jimi Hendrix and the Edge (U2).
The band is comprised of Joe Smither (Guitar), Rory Tonkin (Vocals/Guitar), Will Horton (Bass guitar)and Damian Bearzatto ( Drums).
Having moved to Melbourne from New Zealand in 2003, Joe played in various Melbourne bands until deciding to form his own group in 2006. He met Rory after advertising for a drummer, an added bonus was that he could sing too. They then set about writing and arranging a set of songs based mainly on simple guitar riffs. After the original bass player left the band in 2007, he was replaced by Will, a friend of Rory’s. In late 2008 the band decided to enlist the help of Damien on drums so Rory could concentrate on his vocals and also play some guitar. The Spies played there first gig as a 4 piece at Ruby's Lounge in Belgrave on Nov 18 .
The band have a new plan to record a single or two in early 2009 after a few gigs to break in our new drummer :)

Review by Andy Robinson "
The Edinburgh Castle was a hive of activity last Thursday.
The crowd was greeted by the Busted Spies who, once they found their singer/drummer, delivered a set of I’d-sing-along-if-I-knew-the-words choruses and verses, saved by walking bass lines. It was a Crowded House pop meets Jebediah Australiana affair, with more than a hint late 80s Neil Young guitar tones. A collection of precision solos from guitarist Joe would have done Dave Navarro proud ."
Hey there Joe. Cheers for the add. Cool tunes. Young Kyle is out of town at the moment working. Hope to catch a show soon bro. Take it easy Si Chur chur
