BIOGRAPHY (English Version)
Black Wings were born in the late summer 2005 by the meeting between Filippo Cavallini (30-07-1987), a young bass player from Ferrara (Italy) and Federico Rubin (08-02-1989), an even younger keyboard player, from a near by little town called Ripapersico. Soon Giacomo Bazzani (02-02-1991), already drummer with Filippo in a hard n heavy Band from Ferrara called Roverfish, joined the band along with the twin brother of Federico, Francesco Rubin (08-02-1989) on guitars. After some auditions, around November 2005, the band find its singer in the person of Diego Albini (24-06-1986), formerly from Kreatures of the Night Band, an hard rock band from Ferrara.
After some rehearsals the band start playing many gigs in the Ferrara district and after few months Black Wings record their first demo tape featuring two unedited songs (now forgotten from many fans and from the band) and two Deep Purple cover.
In august 2006 the band records a live gig which receive many good reviews and critics from many webzine around the globe and, after only few months, Black Wings meet Maurizio Chiarello and Underground Symphony Records which will be their first record label.
In September 2007 Black Wings start the recordings for their debut album SACRED SHIVER (available all over the world in springtime 2008 with Underground Symphony Records) at the excellent Fear Studio in Alfonsine, Ravenna (Italy).
The album, produced by the band and Simone Mularoni (formerly guitar player in DGM) and engineered by the great sound engineer Gabriele Ravaglia is a good fusion between the most important influences of the quintet: the prog power influence of bands such as Stratovarius, the old good Hard Rock from the seventies and the eighties (band as Rainbow and Deep Purple are a great inspiration to the band which featured in the album, as a bonus track, the cover of the historical Tarot Woman song from the album Rainbow “Rising”) and the modern progressive influence of bands such as Angra, Dream Theater, Shadow Gallery, Circus Maximus and Vanden Plas.
The first tunes from the album obtain many good responses from many metalheads around the world and tunes such as Fire Tide, Captive to Lies and Hiding the Moon are also played on air by many radio around the globe (California, Italy, USA east coast, England, Greece…).
In March 2008, after two years together, two great characters of the band, Federico and Francesco Rubin quit.
To replace them came along Alessandro Duò, a great keyboard player and singer (Maudits, Utopia Divides, Olimpiadrom...), and the great guitar virtuoso Luca Fortini (already guitar player for Paul di Anno, Children of the Damned, Angels Fall and many more..). With this new line up the band is ready to rock, give flames and build up an Hell on stage!
Black Wings are also working on the promotion of the Debut Album SACRED SHIVER playing many gigs all around Italy and working on the first material for the Follow Up to the debut.
BIOGRAFIA
I Black Wings nascono nel tardo agosto 2005 come gruppo cover“Deep Purple”, “Rainbow”, “Black Sabbath” e “Dream Theater” anche se, a seguito di alcuni elementi instabili all’ interno della formazione la line up finale e attuale la si ottiene solamente nel Novembre seguente.
La formazione è composta da Filippo Cavallini (basso, 30-07-1987), Federico Rubin (tastiere e synth, 08-02-1989), dal suo fratello gemello Francesco (chitarre, 08-02-1989),
Giacomo Bazzani (batteria, 02-02-1991) e Diego Albini (voce, 24-06-1986).
La band inizia da subito ad esibirsi frequentemente live nella zona di Ferrara, della quale è originaria, e ben presto si stacca dall’ambiente cover per dedicarsi alla composizione di materiale originale.
Dopo una prima demo comprensiva di due pezzi inediti e due cover la band registra, nell’ Agosto 2006, un live che ottiene un ottima recensione su True Metal;a seguito di questo iniziano a piovere offerte da svariate case discografiche nazionali e internazionali che però la band declina a seguito della constatazione della poca serietà della maggior parte di esse.
Ben presto però, all incirca nel febbraio 2007, bussa alla porta di “casa Black Wings” Maurizio Chiarello, dirigente della storica etichetta italiana Underground Symphony Records (Labyrinth, Arthemis, White Skull, Time Machine, Adramelch, Sky Lark…) che propone al gruppo una collaborazione.
Nel Settembre 2007 la band entra in sala di registrazione ai Fear Studio di Alfonsine, Ravenna, e sotto la supervisione di Simone Mularoni (attualmente chitarrista nella prog power band italiana DGM) e Gabriele Ravaglia, incide il primo album autoprodotto dal titolo “Sacred Shiver” (nel quale suona anche Mularoni) che vedrà internazionalmente l’uscita con Underground Symphony Records – Audioglobe nell’ autunno 2008.
L’album, quale risultato delle influenze di ogni singolo strumentista del gruppo è un buon insieme di Metal dalle forti componenti Progressive e Powerma con anche, all’interno, una forte connotazione Hard Rock anni 70’ e 80’… a dimostrazione di quest’ ultima importante influenza della band è la presenza, quale bonus track per le potenziali release Giapponesi del prodotto, della cover degli storici “Rainbow” di Ritchie Blackmore e Ronnie James Dio: “Tarot Woman”, dallo storico album “Rising”.
A seguito della pubblicazione sul web di alcuni pezzi dall’album la band è contattata costantemente da molteplici tra radio, webzine e fanzine nazionali e internazionali.
La band vede alcune uscite radiofoniche su radio quali Shockwave / Hard Radio (California), All Access Radio (USA), Wall of Sound (Gran Bretagna), Rockanidia (Grecia), Audio Aggression / Open Grave Radio (USA), Global Pirate Radio (USA)ecc…
A marzo 2008, dopo due anni assieme, due persone fondamentali come Federico e Francesco Rubin lasciano la band.
Per rimpiazziare i loro posti arrivano Alessandro Duò, un grande tastierista e singer che vanta anche altre esperienze come Maudits, Utopia Divides, Olimpiadrom and il guitar hero Luca Fortini (già chitarrista per Paul di Anno, Children of the Damned, Angels Fall e tanti altri.....). Con questa nuova line up la band è di nuovo pronta per Ready rock Again, give flames and build up an Hell on stage
Il quintetto di parvenu è inoltre immensamente onorato dall’apertura di un fan club del gruppo da parte di alcuni fans Colombiani e Italiani e del nutrito seguito di fans che abitualmente assiste ad ogni concerto della formazione in giro per il Nord Italia.
La band è attualmente al lavoro sul materiale per un follow up al debutto discografico e nella promozione dell’album “Sacred Shiver” che al momento sta ottenendo ottimi consensi da parte di moltissimi metalheads in giro per il globo.
