DON'T CALL IT A COMEBACK...
It is time for the new line-up of By Any Means to bring their own unique form of metal to the north west of England.
The seeds of BAM were sown in 2005 by long time friends Dugald and Shad. The duo wrote a number of songs along side vocalist 'Crazy' Dave Symes under the name Dasein. The lineup was never completed and a few months later the project split up. Dug joined goth-metal band Asylum while Shad concentrated on doing open mic nights to master his craft but the pair continued jamming together in their spare time.
After Asylum split up in late 2007 Dug and Shad decided that now was the perfect time to resurrect Dasein. With a new name - By Any Means - and a new focus - melodic, bouncy metal - Dug and Shad set about auditions to complete the band. Between December 2007 and February 2008 Dug and Shad were joined by Chris Phillips (Vocals), Neil Forshaw (drums) and former Freakjesus lead guitarist Rik Knight. The line-up set about writing songs and made its debut at Coda in April 2008.
By Any Means played a string of gigs across the north west during the following summer but the bands progress was halted in the autumn when Chris decided that he could not continue due to pressures from his university course. Undaunted, auditions were carried out for the rest of the year to find a new member while Dugald's brother Andrew filled in on vocals for the gigs the band already had booked.
In January 2009 the instrumentalists of BAM asked Rachael to join them. A more flexible, diverse and melodic vocalist than her predecessors her appointment has allowed the band to move into the more epic and expansive territory that they had already hinted at.
Rachael wasn't to be the newest member for long as Neil was subsequently replaced on drums by Sean Green. Friends since being band mates in Enemies of One, Sean was brought to the band by Rik and charged with the mission of adding weight and power to the BAM sound, a mission it was obvious he'd live up to from their very first jam session.
With a new line-up, sound and re-newed vigour BAM set about getting themselves match fit, ready to rock anybody who's prepared to listen.
With writing under way, gigs lined up and recording to look forward to By Any Means are about to hit their stride, you'd be a fool not to check them out, this is only the beginning...
