I'm a firm believer that everything you come in contact with is an influence. However, if we're talking about musical influences, then I'd have to say in no particular order: Hank Williams, Tom T. Hall, Billy Joe Shaver, Waylon Jennings, Otis Redding, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristopherson, Robert Earl Keen, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Dallas Wesley, Charlie Waller and the Country Gentlemen.
I was born and raised in Nelson County, Virginia, where I currently live with my beautiful wife of two years. I've always loved music, but didn't start playing the guitar until I went off to college. Songwriting followed soon after. I would say that my songs have a more traditional country sound. I grew up on traditional country and bluegrass, and though I like all types of music, those two genres are where my heart lies. Besides anyone who knows me will attest to the fact that even if I rapped or sang death metal it would come out with a twang. :) My philosophy for writing songs is simple: Be Honest! It's fine to make up a story and write a song about it, but if you don't know what you're talking about, it's going to come across in your music. But that's just my personal opinion. I hope you like what you hear on my page. I'd love to hear comments from anyone who wants to send a comment. Keep your ears out for new material. Hopefully the CD should be finished before too long. And have a nice day!
Hey man, we're on a road trip across the country. We left Lynchburg on June 13 and we'll be getting back on July 13th. It's been a great trip. I've posted lots of pictures on facebook. I don't know what the address for my page is, but you can probably look me up pretty easy. I don't know how the garden or the chickens are doing...I imagine they're doing alright. I have a freind looking after them while I'm gone. Been writing any songs lately? I haven't, just been soaking in the beauty of America. We've seen some stuff man. How's everything on your end? Jessica doing alright? You been playing a lot?
just goes to show ya, ya never no, the next time you play might be the last so enjoy, dont take stuff for granted thats what I will take from this, hope you never feel this kinda pain way over rated,

You performed a few songs at the Honor Roll Ceremony at Rockfish. I have enjoyed the CD and it is now downloaded to my IPOD so I can carry it everywhere. I look forward to more int he future.
Hey friend, I see you're playing this Friday. I'll have to try to make it out to that, hear what you've been working on lately. Hope everything's going alright, be good man.
cool man, I can't wait to hear/see your cd. I got Rhode Island Reds. I'd like to get several more different kinds. I've got the room for them. I wonder if goats will eat fallen leaves? Anyway, be good man.
Hey hey. Just thinking about you, wondering how you're doing. I just played Uptown and it was fantastic. Let me know how Stone Soup is. I've got a show in W. Va. this weekend. A place called Living Stones Ministries. It's a purely Christian venue. We'll see how that goes. The people have been really nice on email. I got some chickens. Built 'em a run beside the shed/coop. I'm thinking about getting a goat. You know anything about goats? I'm leaning towards the Nubian even though they have a reputation for being stubborn. Anyway, you'll have to come over and check out my chicks.
byron!!!!!!!!! im sad ill be missing my first thanksgiving with ya'll :( but we are going to GA to trey's aunts house and his dad and step mom are driving down from va to GA to meet us :) so hopefully it wont be to bad.

hey buddy, yeah man! sorry you missed us. We had a blast with the first set. Robbie got up and played with us. That fellas' purrty dang good. We got back up and played like 6 more songs after the raffle and silent auction stuff was over. Hopefully we will be playing somwhere soon so you can come check us out if your around! Later buddy, keep it rural man, i like that!!
Diedre's great. She's teaching all advanced classes except one, so here workload's a good bit heavier. What about you guys, did the schools ever get it worked out about your jobs? They were thinking about moving you, right?
Yeah man, I'll be at the Christmas show. I'm glad you'll be there too. I think it's too late for the contest, though. Anyway Linda said that you couldn't enter a song once it's been recorded, so that pretty much rules out all my songs. No big deal.
That's cool. I like playing the White Hart. It's a cool atmosphere. Do you bring a monitor when you play there? It really helps. i think i'll go check out the contest. It was fun last year. You playing the Christmas show? I'm majoring in Religion for now. I don't know if that'll change. I may change it to an Art major. Be an art teacher. What could be a better job than that?
You know, moving along. Been pretty entrenched in Biology. It's like another language. I'm really having a hard time with it! How's it going with you? You doing the song writers contest? We'll probably be up there to watch the goods.
