This month - Nov 20 @ The Mercat X ***Hanzel Und Gretyl***
After the amazing night we just had with Golgotha vs Cabaret Nocturne at The Mercat X, we're stoked to be getting ready to do it all again with yet another jam packed night coming up for you on Nov 20!
Cabaret Nocturne will be running upstairs as per normal from 10PM with the usual crew of killer DJ's (plus special guests) playing all your favourite gothic, industrial, EBM and alternative tracks. We'll have our outdoor balcony open again, the silent sinema will be playing lots of great horror movies across 3 huge screens, and we'll have the same great drink specials like $4 basics before midnight, $15 snakebite jugs, $15 Zombie Apocalypse pints (bacardi, midori, vodka & pineapple) plus award winning Doubs Mystique Absinthe is now available as well. Entry to Cabaret Nocturne will be the normal price ($13/10).
Downstairs in the basement bar we have two fantastic live acts to showcase! Hanzel und Gretyl from NYC and Voltera will be ripping up the stage with doors open at 8PM. THERE IS A STRICTLY LIMITED CAPACITY so we strongly recommend you buy presale tickets to avoid missing out. To see the bands is $24.95 presale, and if there are any doorsales left they will be $35. So save some money and secure your place at the show by heading to www.qjump.com.au or PERIL Underground in the city. We do expect this show to sell out, there are limited tickets left so book early to avoid disappointment. Entry to Cab Noc after the show is included in the price.
Hanzel Und Gretyl are an industrial death metal group formed by members Kaizer Von Loopy and Vas Kallas in 1993.
In 1994, they recorded a demo entitled "Kindermuzik", and were signed by Energy Records , a small record label based in New York City. They recorded and released their first full-length album "Ausgeflippt" in 1995. After several local shows on Manhattan's lower east side, they embarked on two U.S. tours with Marilyn Manson in '95 and '96. In 1997, they released their second full length album, "Transmissions From Uranus", which subsequently lead the band to tour with Prong and gave them even broader exposure nationally.
In 1998, Energy Records went out of business shortly after Hanzel und Gretyl toured the U.S. in support of Rammstein on their first ever headlining tour of the states. In 2002, the band signed to Metropolis Records and immediately began recording for their long anticipated third album, "Uber Alles", which was released in 2003. Following the release of the album, the band toured for a few months as a headliner and in support of The Genitorturers after which they returned to the studio to record a new album.
In September 2004, the band released their fourth album, "Scheissmessiah" touring the states both as a headliner and in support of Al Jourgensen's Ministry. In 2006, the band toured across America yet again upon the release of the 4 song EP, "Oktotenfest 2006", which also included a full scale U.K. tour in support of Cradle of Filth in 2007. Shortly thereafter, they began work on their fifth full-length album, "2012: Zwanzig Zwölf" released in February 2008. The album's central motif follows the Mayan theory that the world will end in 2012, and the band posits the subsequent extinction of the human race following one last rock concert.
In January of 2009 Hanzel und Gretyl kicked off the first leg of an extensive headlining world tour including shows in The Netherlands, France, Belgium and Spain.
Their "World Fukken Tour 2009" will continue through November and includes shows and festival appearances in Europe, U.K., Scandinavia, Russia, Ukraine, New Zealand and Australia as the demand for Hanzel und Gretyl continues to grow exponentially worldwide and across the universe! P*R*O*S*T*!
Lost? You'll find us at the end of Queen St, smack bang in the middle of Victoria Market. Handy to tram stops on Elizabeth St and Peel St, and close to Flagstaff station. ATMs are located right outside and McDonalds and convenience stores are all within short walking distance. For the nominated driver there is also heaps of free parking.
