Influences
We don’t know how our music is influenced by any one specific band. We listen to it all and come from different musical backgrounds. We really don’t talk about it that much.
While illustrating simple themes of hopes and fears, Cabin manages to elevate the everyday and sweeten the bitter moments into cinematic worth. Cabin's gently driving rock explores the depths of sound while the keeping the gravity of lyrics and simple melodies in touch. Never a servant to fashion or time, Cabin's music will prove to hold up against the past, present and future of 'Rock' n' Roll'. In August of 2004, Cabin emerged without history onto the Louisville music scene, earning the praise, the 'Band out of nowhere'.
Among the legions of fans CABIN has gained since their 2005 debut Govern the Good Life, the band can count Sufjan Stevens, who personally recommended them as "a band you need to check out". Now the band, signed to Machine Records in the early months of 2007, has hit the road to take their craft to a national audience, with the long awaited follow up release, the I Was Here EP, which features five brand new songs including the epic first single 'I Was Here'.
After honing the finer elements of their live performance (opening for several national bands including The Von Bondies, VHS or Beta and others), and while drawing comparisons to My Morning Jacket, Coldplay and U2 from radio, press and other taste makers, CABIN has continued to write and record "... songs that are epics of atmosphere and melody, where the lingering spaces between notes are just as important as the tender, evocative music.' (Courier Journal).
“The Louisville, KY band Cabin are warm and anthemic. The four piece is fronted by Noah Hewitt-Ball whose angelic vocals can soar and convey a broad range of emotions and is complimented by Billy Lease on bass and guitar, David Chale on drums and Sarah Weider on violin, cello and keyboards. Their new EP - I Was Here - on Machine Records will quickly burrow its way into your heart.”
- Bruce Warren WXPN /The Velvet Blog
“A band you need to check out.” – Sufjan Stevens
"CABIN’s songs are epic in scope and feel as if they're pulled from musical influences like Andrew Bird, Wings and Radiohead." - NUVO Weekly / Indianapolis
"As good as this Louisville, KY quartet is on record, onstage they somehow manage to raise the bar on their atmospheric melodies and indelible pop hooks with both a hypnotic stage presence and jaw-dropping dynamics." - ConcertLivewire

yeah no problem, um, i first heard your cd in my friends car and i made her burn it for me but i had no idea who it was i just loved it so much and listened to it over and over and then just a couple months ago these three boys from colorado that were friends of one of my friends came to stay at my apartment for a week and this guy brian put it on my computer and i found out about you! yeah for sure you should come to idaho i would love that more than anything, i have listened to where it lands on repeat for hours because i love it so much!
Funny story - I was awoken during a train ride from London to Scotland by the instrumental intro of 'Cover your Eyes' - a friend from Xavier U. (where I went to college) had placed his headphones into my ears to give me a listen and I refused to give the ipod back to him until we'd arrived in Edinburgh. I played the song on repeat the entire time. Your music just does it for me =)
Hi, just wanted to thank you all for my favorite music of all time. As one of few teenagers in my school who supports public radio, I hear(d) you all on 91.9 all the time, and I fell in love with your music. So far I've got about 4 friends to buy Govern the Good Life, its awesome. I can't wait until you all start touring again in the spring, and you are done with the new album. Thank you for all you've done. (especially "In the Wake Of," its all I need on a bad day.)
so i was listening to your music tonight... and i know you're busy recording and doing all kinds of important musician things... but... COME TO INDY SOON! eh. sorry. i just need some good live music and i love your shows. peace.
