CAKE, a female run, women’s sexuality enterprise, grew out of the void we found as young women living in New York City looking for a forum to express our sexuality. We started CAKE in 2000 to cultivate a community of women who share our belief in the importance of sexuality in women’s daily lives. CAKE, through our events, website, membership program and newsletter, provides a safe and fun environment where women can express their sexuality. CLUB CAKE events grew as an alternative to the traditional male-focused nightlife and bring women and men together in fun, stimulating environments where women are in charge and direct the entertainment. As described by Vanity Fair:
“CAKE [is] a heterosexual community of women with monthly parties at New York nightspots, and a 25,000 subscriber web site devoted to unleashing women’s sexuality. CAKE embodies a new generation of women who participate not so to fulfill a male fantasy but to fulfill and empowered vision on themselves.” -- Vanity Fair, 2002
CAKE takes the next step in achieving female sexual equality. The fact that women are truly coming into their own -- financially, socially and sexually -- is a direct result of previous feminist movements. While the wave in the 60’s and 70’s changed the American workplace and family life, and a later wave brought sexual harassment to center stage, both resulted in social equality. We believe that the next wave of feminism will be our generation of women demanding that sexual empowerment leads to gender equality.

CAKE fulfills the ever-growing needs of a new generation of women (and their partners) who enjoy and want to explore their sexuality. A Piece of CAKE: Recipes for Female Sexual Pleasure is the first CAKE book published by Simon and Schuster/Atria Books. It grew out of five years of our research on women and sex and our interaction with thousands of women. It is an exploration of women’s sexual lifestyle and personal evolution.
