CEJAS the lead guitar and chief songwriter has been playing music since 1976 when he learn his instrument in Tijuana, Baja Norte, Mexico..... His humble beginings he was influence by an Uncle who showed Cejas to play his guitar. Soon CEJAS caught the first wave bug of Punk Rock from an older friend promoter and musician LUIS GUERENA of TIJUANA NO! CEJAS was part of the first generation Tijuana punk band name SOLUTION MORTAL
CEJAS played guitar in SOLUTION MORTAL which grace the stages with the likes of the DEAD KENNEDYS back when CEJAS was 17 sneaking over the border from TJ,Mexico for the L.A.'s OLYMPIC AUDITORIUM.Later shows included DISCHARGE in San Diego also BATTALION of SAINTS.
Finally Cejas left Tijuana, Mexico for his journey to El Lay,California.While in the El Lay Cejas started a new band SYNOD which played around EL LAY, San Diego and Tijuana with ENGLISH DOGS. Then out the ashes came DOGMA MUNDISTA.. In 1989 band played Mexico City, Mexico with TIJUANA NO.Cejas recorded and produced an album DESTINY or GREED..This band played until 1994.
In the year 1995 CALAVERA was born with CEJAS, RICHIE, JEFF and DANIEL.The band released an EP with 4 songs in 1996..The band started playing with the likes of STIFF LITTLE FINGERS, MALDITITA VERICIDAD, PALADINS, at such clubs as THE HOUSE OF BLUES,
THE KEY CLUB, THE PALACE.In 1998 the first CD " THE DAY OF THE DEAD" was released to critical acclaim reaching abroad audience of music fans from blues,punk,psychobilly, and rock en espanol.The band continued to perform with an assortment of bands from TIJUANA NO! SLIM JIM PHANTOM of THE STRAY CATS, THE POLE KATS and THE GUANA BATZ.Later RICHIE left the band to pursue a much needed sobriety.SHANE replace RICHIE on drums performing on the Day of the Dead Album.DANIEL also left the band which he continues with an assortments of bands..JOSH DURON replaced SHANE on drums and RAUL MARTINEZ replaced DANIEL on guitar.
In the year 2000 CALAVERA performed on the NEW YORK PSYCHOBILLY RUMBLE to an new crowd of music enthusias. At the NEW YORK PSYCHOBILLY RUMBLE the band grace the stages with the likes of the NEKROMANTIX,BATMOBILE,THE CARAVANS,THE HANGMEN, and DEMENTED ARE GO.In 2001 saw the start of playing the annual GREASE PIT festivals with the likes of THE PALADINS, The Original COMETS, and others. In 2002 saw the first WEST COAST WRECKERS BALL in CALIFORNIA. THE WRECKERS BALL 2002 was an incredible psychobilly festival produced by Manual from Dragstrip Demons. At THE WRECKERS BALL 2002 the band grace the stage with OS CATALEPTICOS along with MAD SIN.In 2003 the band released the CD "TEQUILAMATIC to the masses..The original bassest Jeff left the band to pursue other musical avenues..ITO replaced JEFF on the Bass briefly as well as ALEX from NORMANDY BLUE played guitar and MATT took over on upright.Also in 2003 the band got to perform on the same stage with THE METEORS at the MAD MONSTER PARTY.....The band also played with legardary Orange County California Punk band TRUE SOUNDS OF LIBERTY... The band has been writing new songs and continue performing.
In the year 2004 the band performed a memorial for LUIS GUERENA of TIJUANA NO in the JAI LAI in TJ, MEXICO. Also performed on the AMERICAN NIGHTMARE 2 as well as the 10th Anniversary of the HOOTENANNY performing on the same stage as THE BLASTERS, SUPERSUCKERS and THE CRAMPS..MATT who played the upright bass and JOSH who played drums both left the band working on their musical projects. We like to THANK again MATT, JOSH and RAUL for being a part of the CALAVERA family. THE HOLLYWOOD SHOWDOWN at the KNITTING FACTORY in HOLLYWOOD was a excellent show which featured new drummer JOEY DAKOTA and the return of ITO on the upright bass. Recents shows have been with good friends DEMENTED ARE GO and MAD SIN.
2005 recently performed with BATMOBILE at the HENRY FONDA THEATRE. Performed THE SIN CITY STOMP in Las Vegas. Performed at the 17th SATANIC STOMP in SPEYER,GERMANY. Toured Europe in Germany, Austria, Holland, Czech Republic. The CD called PLAGA DE ROCK came out in MAY. In MAY the band ventured for the MIDWEST PSYCHOBILLY GATHERING in CHICAGO,DETROIT,and INDY. Performing on the MSG was CANADA's DEADCATS', KOFFIN KATS, THE MASSACRES, RIGOR PHALUS. In June a show with good friends THE KLINGONZ. In SEPTEMBER the band ventured for the FLORIDA SWAMP STOMP in MIAMI,ORLANDO and TAMPA. Performing on the FSS was THE VAN ORSDELS, TWISTED IN GRAVES and THE DEAD POPES. In October the band performed on 3rd MAD MONSTER PARTY!! In November ventured down to HOUSTON,TEXAS, MONTERREY and MEXICO CITY,MEXICO
