The Calendar that we operate today, The Gregorian Calendar, isn't the only calendar that has ever existed in the World. Many have been and gone. For example:- the Mayan's used a unique calendar based on a 360 day year in cycles of 52 years in parallel with an astronomical calendar. The Gregorian Calendar, introduced by Pope Gregory in the 16th Century, is based on, well is a slight 'correction' of, the Julian Calendar, given to us by Julius Caeser - a dictator. It is also rumoured that the reason August has 31 days is that Augustus did not want a month (August) named after him with any less days in it than the number of days that Julius Caeser had for the month of July!!
Now how ridiculous is that?
When the Pope introduced the calendar, some 400 or so years ago, those countries that adopted it at the time (not all did, like Russia) found themselves losing 10 days that year. That's a whole 10 days effectively wiped from history, that year. Now that must have been funny - going to bed on the 10th December (say) and waking up on the 20th December. Some kinda weird time travel.
So some years ago, I found myself in my dear friends Jaimes' and David's house in Balham, London, as I often did, just kicking back time and 'talking bollocks'. It was early February. Someone asked what a particular day was going to be in March - it might have been Sandra who asked, but I cannot now remember which day, sorry - but let's say March 5th - and whether it would be a Monday or a Sunday or a Tuesday or a what day?
I said that is easy. What was February 5th? Whatever day February 5th was, then March 5th (it was not a leap year...!) would be the same day. This is because February has (ordinarily) 28 days.

-Mark Travis (author of The Director’s Journey)
Al Watt's one-day story structure intensive celebrates the power of the unconscious in getting one’s story from their imagination onto the page. The imagination can bypass all of one’s ideas of what the story ought to be, reaching beyond apparent logic, to the bedrock of universal truth. Working in this way, our stories have a chance to come alive, and become surprising, compelling, transformative tales.
This workshop is designed for writers at all levels of experience to develop and deepen a writing process that works!
For more information or to book your spot, please call (310) 712-1290. Mention KITTY-1 and receive $10.00 off the cost of the class.
