In December 2003, Drummer Kevin Griffin and Bassist Mike Woodell, who had played in previous bands together, decided to seek out two more members who better matched their musical goals as well as their drive and determination. They decided that they wanted a female vocalist and also knew they needed a talented and capable guitarist to complete the line up. In that same month the pair stumbled upon female vocalist Travis Leigh . CALIBUR was born. The four have since come together to successfully write and record as well as perform their own original material. Calibur can best be defined as: Original modern rock music combined with driving guitar and bass, high energy drums and percussion, melodic rock vocals, hard hitting lyrics and unique harmonies. They are based in Sanford, North Carolina and are currently booking their Regional Tour.
Since it's inception, Calibur has performed in venues all over North Carolina with astounding results and reviews. They have earned a loyal fan base and have also developed a strong web presence. In early 2004 they recorded their first demo, and in July went into the studio to record Calibur original "Enola", their first professionally recorded single which will be available for release and sale in mid September. They have also received press in The Sanford Herald, as well as airplay on local radio WDCC 90.5 and advertising spots on Rock 103.5. They currently have in their repertoire 25 original songs as well as 30 cover songs that they perform. In May of 2004 Angelic Promotions, based in Texas, signed on as Sponsorship Coordinator for Calibur. This, in addition to the band's other successes and achievements, can be attributed to their continuing hard work and motivation as well as each individual's talents and unique influences and how they bring it all together to form that which is Calibur. Tim Preston of the Sanford Herald states;" Calibur. A collection of talented musicians whose goal is to push the boundaries of musical standards and make a big splash into the southeast music scene."
