About me:
Our Mission:
The mission of CALIFORNIA LIST is to elect Democratic women to state government positions.
CALIFORNIA LIST works to protect Democratic women incumbents facing tough re-elections, recruits strong candidates to run for promising open or viable seats, and connects candidates and donors throughout California.
Because running for office in California is costly, CALIFORNIA LIST helps candidates overcome the financial hurdle by connecting donors and candidates, so that they may raise the money necessary to win.
CALIFORNIA LIST continues to develop a sustainable fundraising network that will keep the pipeline moving and enable us to fulfill our mission to send more Democratic women to Sacramento.
Founded in 2002, CALIFORNIA LIST is modeled after EMILY's List, which recommends pro-choice, Democratic women candidates nationally to its members.
Bettina Duval, founder of CALIFORNIA LIST, initially brought together a group of 15 friends concerned about the overall decline in the number of women serving in elective office. The professional women came together to create a mechanism that would move beyond just rhetoric. The Founders Circle wanted to create a dependable connection for money. Membership quickly grew to 136 and has doubled annually since then.
By joining CALIFORNIA LIST, members become part of a network of over 1,500 Californians with a common desire to support Democratic women candidates running for the California state government. Benefits of CALIFORNIA LIST membership include:
* Strengthen the voice of Democratic women and their values in California;
* Change the face of power - one woman at a time;
* Insure a Democratic future for California; and
* Build a foundation for our nation's next generation of leaders.
Our members receive regular updates on candidates and their campaigns and have opportunities to meet with those candidates at CALIFORNIA LIST sponsored events. Our experience has proven that through the power of working together we can keep Democratic women elected officials in California state government.
