When you take gutsy rock vocals and punchy rap rhythms, and lay them over a blend of acoustic guitars, keyboards and percussion, you have a sound that is uniquely Calling Elijah.
Marc Hamilton and Andy Dickson joined forces in mid 2005 to use their two individual styles to create a sound not heard before in New Zealand. Since then this sound has been heard throughout the country, with Calling Elijah having made 50 appearances a year in 2006/2007, being well received wherever they have played and having extensive radio play on LifeFM.
This radio play has lead to their song “Even If” reaching number 1 on the LifeFM charts and holding it’s position for two weeks, before also clocking in at number 7 in LifeFM’s 2007 top 100 countdown.
Their recent release – the EP ‘Inside Out’, is a step up from their debut self-titled EP, released in December 2006, and is selling well – making the CD&DVD Store’s top 20 selling Christian artists list in Dec 07 and Jan 08, alongside such artists as Brooke Fraser, The Frey, Lifehouse and Switchfoot.
With a focus on more than musical success, Calling Elijah ensure that their music and performances are filled with encouragement and inspiration, challenging their listeners to become all they can be.
Marc's influences include Lifehouse, Nickelback, Switchfoot, Matchbox20 and Shawn McDonald.
AndyD's influences include P.O.D., Mat Kearney, Linkin Park and Will Smith.

Woot! Glad to hear from you. And guess what...? I just had a rock band drop right into my lap. Auditioned as front man...works out great. More practice coming and then some recording. Good luck to you.
Love the song Inside Out! Made me cry when I first heard it on LifeFM. I was going through some hard emotional stuff with someone - real down on myself - and this song was just really encouraging to me. It's so good when I hear songs like this from guys. Sometimes we women just wonder what Christian guys are thinking, especially in a world saturated with such a screwed up picture of what a woman should be. What inspired you for this song?
haha im actually so bad when it comes to hook ups coz my youth pastor is so terrible at communication when i get anywhere near organising anything! i will get there one day, i will! yeah i am going over to conference, im saving like a crazy woman so that i have enough money over there! im so excited i think its been 3 years since i last went and this time i have to pay the whole thing myself! our tickets arrived yesterday, so exciting! we are gunna be at the top of the superdome, its crazy high, when people mosh the building shakes and i think im gunna die ahahaha. how are you? cb
Hey, Yeah, I love to write music and play around with sounds - though the music program I have is terrible! Especially since I can play actual instruments, but it's not like I have a band or a studio =) Many of my songs are like a musical diary of just some of the emotions and issues I face in my life, so they don't always go up on my page -- tend to be very personal. I'm kinda like a closet musician...well I was until a friend of mine told me I should share it with others - more than my just singing on the music team at church. Haha!
Anyway, peace be with you.
Any chance that you'll be playing in Hamilton before May? Or touring in the States? =)
Sounds like it was an extremely busy, crazy time! This is a lovely lil thing I was sent n I thought I'd pass it on cos its cool message ;) Have a gr8 weekend! Alli
Friendship isn't always easily described. The Eskimos, they say, have a hundred different words for snow. Unfortunately, the English language isn't quite as innovative, though it has vast opportunities to differentiate meaning. Certainly, Love is one of those opportunities. And so, too, is Friendship.
Instead of different words, however, we're stuck with simple adjectives. Close friend. Best friend. Childhood friend. Intimate friend. Trusted friend. Beloved friend. But whether you use adjectives or different words, few could deny the nearly infinite meaning in such a simple word.
Friends are special people. We can't pick our family, and we're sorely limited in the number of them at any rate. Society and mores (and often our own conscience) dictate we select a single mate. But our friends can be as diverse and infinite as the adjectives we choose. Our friends, in a very real sense, reflect the choices we make in life.
So....here are some famous quotes on friendship...
"If you judge people, you have no time to love them." - Mother Teresa
"A true friend stabs you in the front." - Oscar Wilde
"Have no friends not equal to yourself." - Confucious (551 - 497 BC) Chinese philosopher.
"The only reward of virtue is virtue; the only way to have a friend is to be one." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
"It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." - Martin Luther King Jr.
"Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.
