~Calm and Collective consists of six members with only one goal in mind...to move you with our music. The front-man, Mike Mckinnish has performed in several venues including but not limited to, radio shows, t.v. interviews, live solo performances, and guest performances with other notable regional bands. His unique vocal quality coupled with a solid songwriting ability has made a firm foundation upon which Calm and Collective has grown. The band writes the music and Mike adds the
words and everyone forms together and then it all falls into place.thats
the magic!
~Jackson "Action" Martin was born to play music, every instrument he
touches from the sax, to the keys ,to the fiddle his melodic ability is
a rare niche. It's all by ear thats what makes it incredible.Playing with
bands such as Mojo Howlin and All Star Jam Band has given him the
experience needed to master a show.Jackson's skills are just another
special part needed to complete Calm And Collectives sound.
~Steven "Stevo" Poteat is adding the slick and delightful lead guitar melodys to Calm and Collective's music. His style is unmatched when it comes to feeling the groove, his natural ability is one of a kind learning how to play drums when he was a kid from his father, teaching him how to feel the groove. After studying the guitar and music theology he has become a serious threat. His musicianship makes him a pro and playing for the band
"26 ways" formally known as " Sharon the Groove" has given him a clear vision of how to be an expert.
~Vince MucCluney is keeping the pocket as tight as it can get as a drummer.
He can put a beat to any anything,Vince grew up playing in church as a child.
15 years of experience in styles ranging from jazz, blues, and rock has
formed Vince into a human drum machine. His beats speak for thereselves,
his performance on stage as a drummer will never be matched.Vince always
keeps it responsible on stage and that's what makes us so good. His love for playing shows at EVERY show.Vince is the ticket.
~"Bongo" Barry Dalton, a Rutherfordton native, solidifies Calm and Collective's reggae sound. He has played in several regional acts such as "Sharon the Groove," and "State of Mind," and has also graced many a studio with his palette of auxiliary percussion sounds.Using all types of
percussion instruments from congos,bongos,bells,blocks,chimes-just to
name a few his style is complete. His drum solos steady beats and great
attitude brings a pool full of love to the band.
~John "THE LEGEND" Floyd, coming from Florida John has done everything
from producing a 5 week on top of chart cd,to playing for 'Keith Sweat' and
Lil G from 'Silk'.Hes traveled all over playing with alot of greats performing for musicals and shows he has a big name in the industry.John is the groove in which we sway by, he is a river that never ever stops flowing. He solidifies us period.
Together all six personalities and abilities form a type of music that can not fit into to just one genre. Combining elements of funk, jazz, blues, reggae and rock n roll, we carry the spirit of good music and good times.
