Calm and Collective was influenced by many types of music. Ranging
from reggae,blues,jazz ,and twist of soul our music is our own and thats what makes us so original.Each of our members provide there own unique technique which gives us our musical magic.(MESH)

~Calm and Collective consists of five members with only one goal in mind...to move you with our music. The front-man, Mike Mckinnish has performed in several venues including but not limited to, radio shows, t.v. interviews, live solo performances, and guest performances with other notable regional bands. His unique vocal quality coupled with a solid songwriting ability has made a firm foundation upon which Calm and Collective has grown.The band writes the music and Mike adds the
words and everyone forms together and then it all falls into place.thats

~Phill Lovelace ,sax player from national beach band "Ocean Blvd."
Phil's experience and laid back style gives Calm and Collective's
groove a blanket to lay on.Playing the wind instrument,flute,and
sax he's another special part of our completion of sound.Phil has
played all over many festivals and venues and it has made him an awesome musician.He has been claimed as the best sax player in
Cleveland County period.Phil's knowledge brings a lot to the table
for the band,the sax sound speaks for itself.
~Justin "Jazz" Harper gives the band its head bobbing reggae-jazz
sound.He is currently attending Gardner Webb University, majoring in Music Education and Music Composition with a concentration in classical guitar. Justin has performed in front of many faces in local bands such as Dead 7, Vibe, and Harvest, as well as the Gardner-Webb University Jazz Band & G.W.U. Concert Choir, Symphonic Band, Guitar Ensemble, Orchestra. Justin is a guitar player at heart which makes him the perfect lead/bass guitar for this outfit. He is also well versed in many different styles of music. His groove is undisputed.
~Vince MucCluney is keeping the pocket as tight as it can get as a drummer.
He can put a beat to any anything,Vince grew up playing in church as a child.
15 years of experience in styles ranging from jazz,blues,and rock has
formed Vince into a human drum machine.His beats speak for there selves,
his performance on stage as a drummer will never be matched.Vince always
keeps it responsible on stage and that's what makes us so good.His love for playing shows at EVERY show.Vince is the the ticket.
~"Bongo" Barry Dalton, a Rutherfordton native, solidifies Calm and Collective's reggae sound. He has played in several regional acts such as "Sharon the Groove," and "State of Mind," and has also graced many a studio with his palette of auxiliary percussion sounds.Using all types of
percussion instruments from congos,bongos,bells,blocks,chimes-just to
name a few his style is complete.His drum solos steady beats and great
attitude brings a pool full of love to the band.
Together all five personalities and abilities form a type of music that can not fit into to just one genre. Combining elements of funk, jazz, blues, reggae and rock n roll, we carry the spirit of good music and good times.
