Being in the Bay Area “Hyphy” is the trend in the music industry that is consuming the streets of Oakland, out of the shadows there is an up and coming artist trying to simply flood them. Cal Ripken aka Da Rip King is that new talent bringing a different sound that will soon spread throughout the music industry.
Born Calvin Jackson, an Oakland native, the influences of music began at an early age from family members to actual artists of a wide variety. As the years continued the influences grew consisting of present artists such as T.I., Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne. Beginning his talent with his poetry, Cal Ripken realized that his writing ability could be used musically. With his experiences with women he decided that the image of a “ladies man” would best portray his character.
Touching basis with his talent Cal Ripken has also started his own company, Flood The Streets Entertainment and his production company, Top Floor Productions, thus, separating him from just being a rap artist but also a business man. With both these accomplishments he continues to strive to be a better artist by thinking outside the average. Whether it be managing, producing, or writing he goes beyond what others won’t do.
