Genuine Imitations where formed in 2002, and shortly after, played their first show. At first GI Dave, the guitarist/vocalist who formed the band had no idea how to play a guitar. He had read that the Sex Pistols couldn't play their instruments, but still had a band so he figured he should do it too. Sky on the other hand, went to music school and had advanced slap bass. This formed the basis of their sound. They originally reacted strongly against the oppressive culture of the post 9/11 world and sought to offend their audience. The band grew through the years. They grew from being the most hated band in Westchester county New York just north of NYC, to the most beloved. Deciding to make pop songs with choruses and stuff instead of just screaming. They played tons of shows and diy their own shows, at first being banned from most places. As the band grew They honed there punk funk sound which harked back to the American underground bands like the Minute Men or the Big Boys also highly influential were bands like the Dead Kennedy's and MDC, whose political sarcasm..... http://www.myspace.com/genuineimitations
Kontagen is an Alterative Rock band from Midland, TX that has been growing for the past several months. They formed at the beginning of ’07 right after the lead singer and guitarist Shea Sitz disbanded Chasing Yesterday. While with Chasing Yesterday, Shea Sitz got to open up for some major national acts such as Candlebox and Limitpoint. Chasing Yesterday broke up and singer Shea Sitz was faced with a choice: either give up or start over. Well after regrouping and finding his true musical self, he added members Evan Carter ( bass ), Sean Covington ( Guitar ), and Burgess Covington ( Drums ). The drummer ( Burgess Covington ) grew up playing the drums at the feet of his father ( world renowned jazz drummer Kirk Covington ) and his good friend Danny Carey ( drummer for Tool ). Now with all their influences, ranging from Pink Floyd and Tool all the way to Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin, combined, they together created a band with a sound like none other: Kontagen. http://www.myspace.com/kontagen

Founded in 2006 by Cal, CAL-ROCK records was designed to be a release separate from modern post-punk, post-hardcore sound that had taken over the scene. The days of the independent band had ceased because any band you hear of is a major label band while they last. In the day and age where no one supports creativity, innovating, and youth spirit. We are all lost. CAL-ROCK Records steps out and takes essential steps to provide this "newer outlet. Last
year we recorded 4 releases. 3/4 released in March 2007. The last much later in the year in the Summer.
We started out with one band, verbally agreeing to work ..
We then came to terms with Outcry who were feeling left out of the mold. We booked Outcry a tour of the southern states, when one show fell throughwith the elite bands mentioned here, we then booked them an adjacent show date with the same bands and those bands were Quiet Drive and Houston Calls- but this brought a change of venue.
Due to legal issues both of these bands were forced to change their names.
Some bands were forced to change their names Shea represented what was the original component to the label, and he fronted the alternative rock group
Chasing Yesterday. When the band changed names other members
were fortunately replaced, including long time member Wes on drums.
Not long before we brought Outcry to California to play and record through Glenn at No//Basis. They recorded a 12 songLP. The drummer at the time used a backup drum kit the label provided and also scarcely
we went to Guitar Center the daybefore the start of studio play We are
hastefuly filling our need, and doing it because we needed and actually
bought symbals and stands- to get the bands cd to
hit hard- and be perfect. We
returned them after the recording.
Haha, sorry GC.
We gave the band a place to crash, ..
at a place we owned.
The last night I believe we got
them hotel rooms. Brandon,
the drummer, actually went on to be
offered an endorsement
deal with the company, SHINE DRUMS.
By the time Outcry was back we were
sending off CDs to members
of Chasing Yesterday to play a sold out
show with the legendary Rock act,
CANDLEBOX! They sold almost all of their
CDs! They were ready to go on tour,
but the tour got cut short only for hope
which brought a new band
bringing together the Covingtons,
featuring Burgess Covington
through dad mutually connected closely
with the drummer for TOOL. Accordingly,
a versatile bassist was also added..
Five months proceeding the recording of the
Outcry CD, we agreed on doing a 5 song
EP rather than doing the full album,
this was at the bands request when
when signing back to Cal-Rock Records
after some differences. The band hereto
would remain...
The band played a highly publicized show
a headlining show at the venue Dos Amigos
in Odessa (current/past bands there;
Hawthorne Heights, Puddle of Mud,
Three Days Grace, and Candlebox), and
accompanying the band was high
publicizing through local commercial radio
station K-B-A-T through interviews and
commercials. The great thing about
this release was the music first, absolutely
that, but additionally our production team
who were able to do the physical labor for
the initial thousand cd pressing in just over
a week. Great Production.
In regards to Outcry, We immediately shipped
500 cds to the band and spent exactly $500 dollars
to ship the CD's 2nd Day UPS afternoon so they
would have the CDs in time to play the show and have
some form of merchandise. What a way to spend $500
dollards the label says, I saw peew!
When we met again, CAL-ROCK bought the
infamous tour-bus, I can say no more about
that due to legal issues. Much of the members
of Outcry have gone on to play in Everling.
I now play bass, guitar and vocals in Outcry of the
Permian Basin.
While this was all going on, we signed
Tomorrow's Cry as our third band.
Chris Fox and Cal Sanders met in Burbank
at a Starbucks and made it official.
We originally met because Chris agreed
to play last minute to open for our friends:
A Step Behind; who ended up ditching the
tour after a Spokane date, a day after we had
accommodated, through the venue, a nice resort.
Neverthless, Back to the previous bands,
sigificant irony exists. Both bands Originally
officially opened to band Limitpoint (Dew Breakout Band/
Cal Rock Logo Designer) who currently fronts the
already novelty "The Spencer Outfit". So basically
finding support for Limitpoint in Odessa in booking one
of their tours led to the the start of the label and
some ever lasting friendships and relationships and
family through the label Cal Rock Records!!!!!!
You are included. Join The Riot,
Join The Family !
We had a recording budget- not bad, when the band,
Tomorrow's Cry went over to record The Mold, a car
had to be sold and a pentium IV laptop as well! Ha.
This pressing moved fairly fastly, how much so,
the next shipment of CDs will be phenomenally
packaged, and awesomely ready for the next batch.
I can't say the band moved to original batch by
themselves, but they have been motivated.
GI Dave from New York signed with his band The
Genuine Imitations from White Plains, New York
they are our best friends forever. I'll always back them
in anything.
Thanks for reading, we hope to do more in the future-
this will soon be taken down and moved
to our regular website as an archive. (Nothing but an archive- you forsaken loser you; just an archive) As we rock
out for you!
Lastly may peace be with Casey Calvert
of his old band. Family members, your family
members, friends, friends of, neighbords,
daughter's wives, sister's cousins, and mother's
lovers who passed on too soon here in 2007
CHEERS, THE SHOW MUST GO ON,
AND THIS SHOW IS THE BIG SHOW
AND WE WILL ROCK OUT.
