Cal will be supporting Sandi Thom in Aberdeen on February 1st then two nights in Banff on 4th and 5th. We hope to see you there.
After the departure of Donnie Munro from Scottish Celtic rock band "RUNRIG", Michael Callaghan "CAL" auditioned for the position as the new front man and got down to the last in Scotland before the band eventually decided to sign the Canadian singer Bruce Guthro. Rather than be disappointed, Cal was encouraged and inspired to write his own songs and set up his own record label (Cal Music), therefore enabling him to write, record and promote his own songs while keeping all copyright control of his works.
Cal started playing the guitar and singing in the early 1990s .
1994 he attained an HND in "Rock Music Performance", won the Outstanding Adult Learner Award and the Sound Control Music Trophy 1993 - 1994.
In 1996 he achieved his Advanced Diploma in "Film And Television Music"
1997 Cal had already started out on his own as a self employed solo performer, singing his own songs and cover songs incorporating every kind of musical style from the 50s to the chart hits of the day and very quickly created a stir in all kinds of venue throughout Scotland from pubs and clubs to town halls and small concert halls.
2000 was a busy year for Cal, although continuously touring, he managed to write enough material for an album and by the end of that year the recording of "(Scotland) A Part Of Me" was completed and aired for the first time. The album is distributed in Scotland by Gordon Duncan Music Distribution and Highlander Music Distribution and was made available to HMV, Virgin and all good music stores early in 2001.
In 2004 Cal did a four-week tour of the south west of Germany with sixteen live performances to launch the new album Calling You.
2005: - Cal had over 220 bookings in his diary and on 17th of April he played at Marlene Ross's (Runrig manager) birthday bash, on the 18th played at the Celtic Tsunami Appeal Concert in the Music Hall in Aberdeen along with the Donnie Munro Band, Dougie MacLean, Fiona Kennedy, JJ Gilmore, Clan Wallace and Davie Cowan. In addition to playing solo Cal was also asked to play guitar for Fiona Kennedys band.
2006 Cal supported Midge Ure in three top venues throughout Scotland.
Cal performs solo and with a full band playing original material and covers. (No covers with the band)
Cal has played in the same line up with Midge Ure, the Donnie Munro Band, Dougie MacLean, Wolfstone, The Ian Hunter Band (Mott The Hoople), Fish (Marillion), and more.
A new album is currently being recorded and due to for release later this year.

" May you always have work for your hands to do. May your pockets hold always a coin or two. May the sun shine bright on your windowpane. May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain. May the hand of a friend always be near you. And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you!"
