HELLO MY FRIENDS. THANKS FOR VISITING ME HERE. I HAVE JUST FINISHED MIXING AND MASTERING A NEW CD OF PREDOMINANTLY SCOTTISH FIDDLE MUSIC WITH A FEW TWISTS AND TURNS ALONG THE WAY. IT WILL BE A FOCUSED SOUND OF VIOLIN WITH PIANO (SUSIE PETROV) WITH GUEST ARTIST, PIPER DAN HOUGHTON OF EDINBURGH. IT'S BEEN A VERY EXCITING YEAR FOR ME. SPENDING THE SUMMER IN SCOTLAND AND ABSORBING THE TONALITY OF OUR MUSIC, LANGUAGE, TERRA AND DIALECTS. IT SURELY DEVELOPS A QUALITY IN ANYONE'S PLAYING AND BROADENS THE SONIC LANDSCAPE. I THINK THIS CD WILL REPRESENT THOSE QUALITIES TRANSLATED THROUGH SUSIE AND I'S INTERPRETATIONS. THIS PAST SUMMER, I HAD THE HONOR OF COMPETING FOR THE TITLE OF FIDDLER TO MARQUIS OF HUNTLY. AN ANCIENT POSITION DATING OVER 150 YEARS AGO. I SUBSEQUENTLY WON THE POSITION AND AM VERY PROUD TO BE LINKED TO THIS ANCIENT HERITAGE THAT I TRULY FEEL THAT SOMEHOW, I'VE BEEN LINKED TO BEFORE. WELL, FOR NOW, I'M BACK TO TEACHING HERE IN NY, ENJOYING MYSELF AND SHARING MY STORIES WITH THEM.
CHEERS EVERYONE!
CALUM
“The rooms were very still while the pages were softly turned and the winter sunshine crept in to touch the bright heads and serious faces with a Christmas greeting.” ~Louisa May Alcott~
I got back to Los Angeles the earlier this week after putting 4000 miles on my jeep driving around the southwest. I woke up in the morning to find that my new album had finally become available on Amazon.com. While some of these songs were written as much as 4 years ago, some in hawaii right after cambodia, mexico, california since then, they still capture who I am and how I feel, the fluctuation between my failures and my ideals, growth and the serene moments I live for and between the desire to be a Buddhist monk in the mountains and the importance of being engaged in the world. I hope that you'll listen and enjoy. You can check out most of the songs for free streaming from www.reverbnation.com/tullymackaytisbert. The album is called 'Anitya.' It is acoustic folk rock with some traditional east asian influences.

Hey. Well done again for Sunday. You played very well. Hopefully see you again next year...although give me a shout if you're ever in Glasgow and up fo tune. Shoz x
Nice to hear from you. Yes, I'm at Berklee in Boston right now, working hard and having fun!!! Highland Heartbeat seems like a bit of a blur now, was a crazy couple of weeks. Enjoyed your playing very much. Give us a shout if your playing nearby some time. Best, Maureen
Yea, I'm not that practiced up(beginning to worry now!) I'm not in Scotland at the moment, I'm over in Ireland on an exchange until December.
The only sessions that I know of are on Sunday's. There is one in Waxy O'Conner's, which is in a lane between Queen St Train Station and Buchannan St and thats from 4-7pm and then there's on in the Ben Nevis which is out on Argyll St across the road from the Park Bar. Most of the guys from the RSAMD go to those ones so they are pretty good craic. Anyway, see you in about 2 weeks! Shona x
