When Calvin Burks began the search for songs to record for his first album “Just One Voice” in late 2007, he debuted a song titled “When A Soldier Dies” which has had over 50,000 Plays, With deep meaning and strong connections to the Military, this song has had many comments from various American Soldiers as well as other Recording Artist. He fell in love with a song he’d written called “My Photograph” which also debuted in his first album “Just One Voice”, The message of the lyrics--- how a picture can cover the lies---the meaning and realism it brought Burks helped inspire the title of his NEW ALBUM “Out Of My Mind”.

As Burks’ Thousands of Myspace fans from around the world already know, it’s been a complete sideways journey. Since auditioning on the second season of American Idol, the 21-year-old Rockport, Texas native with the smooth Tenor voice; won the USAG Ansbach Military Idol Competition in 2006. At the year-end of 2007 released his first album “Just One Voice” which drew over 200,000 plays on Myspace. In mid 2008 Calvin began working on his second album titled “The Road To Where” which currently is in the process of being recorded. Along with that he is working on a Twist with Twisted Sound Records---recording “Out Of My Mind” Hopefully to be finished also by the End of this Year.
Burks’ also donates much of his time to the community, performing at Christmas concerts and traveling shows as well as performing in local Musicals.
There is so much to cover in one album “Really, its allot ,” Burks’ admits, “I mean I write the Music Score and the lyrics to every song, but it does take time, and sometimes I just don’t seem to have enough.” Not everything that you will hear on Burks’ Albums reflect the things actually in his life but he says a lot of things do. Another track that means a lot to Burks’ is “Cry,” a moving ballad that Calvin wrote shortly after discovering that he was soon to be a father. “This song really says it, how a father can fill, especially in the world we live in today; never knowing what tomorrow brings” he says. “It’s about something happening to me and my daughter not being able to meet me, blah blah blah just listen to the song.”
It’s that commitment that drives everything Burks’ does, even if it means recording a song by night when his “Daddy Duties” come to rest at the end of the day. “Or when my Wife gives me permission,” he says with a laugh. “It’s a lot of work, but I have a great time Doing both the albums’ and “Daddy Duties.” He adds “I have a family that supports me, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.”
