Influences
Hailing as a four piece from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Camarada bursts with energy in that special way that curls your lips into a smile and puts your shoes to a tap. A few underground circles around the city are already whispering their name as the future of pop rock in the midwest. And they wouldn't be far off. Camarada possesses a staggering pop sensibility to their songwriting, which culls the likes of Brit pop and merges with Americana to form a unique sound that is alternative, country and indie rock all together. Add to that the raspy, defiant snarl of singer Matthew Mulligan, and it all starts to make sense. But, hearing is believing, in this band's case.
Camarada has been quietly preparing to catch a wave ever since the uttering of the word "band", in the Fall of 2006. It all started, simply enough, in a small apartment north of downtown Milwaukee. 23 at the time, Mulligan had been stockpiling a collection of musical odds and ends in his free time and filling the rest with his day job at the local university. Almost four years since his last band's fallout, a return to the midwest music scene seemed unlikely. But it was amidst the drudgery of his 9 to 5 that Mulligan met producer and co-worker, Dan Siercks. A friendship was struck, and Mulligan was invited to Sierck's own Triage Studios to lay down those odds and ends with a long time friend of Sierck's, Jeremy Benishek.
It was there in the studio that something clicked again. Luscious, pop rock arrangements began to take shape, and the need for a drummer was evident. Enter Adam Holly, friend to Siercks and Benishek. Before they knew it, the four were driving to a remote boathouse on a lake far west, tucked away in the pines and the snow to write and record a record. Three days later, twelve songs emerged to become the debut album from Camarada: King In The Dark.

Hi... We're writing this message to you only to tell you that A) We have two new tracks up and B) We're now selling a full LP (it's pretty cheap which is nice). We just wanted to tell you what's new with us (if you even cared to know that is) but if you're actually intrigued or just laughing and rolling your eyes at us... either way, have a most lovely day
Just wanted to let you all know that the CD sounds great and congrats on another good performance. We aren't at 6509 Sasquatches yet, but that day will come.
We just want to Thank You for the support. It means alot to us here. Again, Thank You!
I hope everything is well with you all and that shows and everything else in the realm of music and life are good. Hopefully we'll get the opportunity to see you out sometime soon.
Hey, we have a new song on our page. It would be cool if you could check it out, but if not we understand, we hate these comments too.
But anyway, we're feeling pancakes--are you feeling pancakes right now? we should have pancakes together. We think that'd be nice, even if you don't like or know who we are.
Anyway, hope to talk to you soon.
Love always,
Yes Means No
hey, your demo's sound really good. So, you guys do all the recording yourself, right?
Our band is actually looking to record an album soon. As it stands, we haven't recorded anything new since last summer. Even then, it was done real quick just to demo. I'd love to talk to you guys about your recording process. Maybe get some ideas.
