Camille Breeze, sometimes accompanied by Steve Rapson or Paul Beck and Leslie Bryant of Ergo Canto
Influences
Influenced by strong female vocalists like Annie Lennox and KD Lang. Admire songwriters such as Patty Griffin, Vance Gilbert and Oen Kennedy. Guilty pleasure in schmaltzy pop like Barry Manilow, Meatloaf and Simon & Garfunkel.
After a misguided youth spent sitting too close to the TV and singing to her collies in the woods, Camille emerged on the Boston folk scene as an a cappella solo singer. Not daunted by her initial lack of instrument-playing ability, Camille soon bought a magical blue guitar and brushed off her piano skills in order to make singing alone more entertaining to her. Soon talented area musicians came to her aid and she embarked on a career of collaborating in coffeehouses and cafes. Camille counts among her many mentors such local luminaries as Ellen Schmidt, David Jackson, Steve Rapson, Oen Kennedy, Amy Malkoff, Patti DeRosa, Ana Eder-Mulhane, Kate Chadbourne, John Boehmer, and Mike Delaney. If pressed, she would say her musical highlights to date are opening for Don White and Vance Gilbert.
When not indulging herself with music, Camille enjoys riding her Harley, yoga, antiquing, and her work (www.museumtextiles.com).
