Camille fuses an elegant mixture of pop and neo-soul. Her music is filled with life lessons of love and simply ordinary life. So who is she? A Chicago native, Camille has been encircled in music. With Camille, it’s not all about singing though. She intertwines the melodic language of her piano with her voice. Classicly trained, she started piano at the early age of 8. She began singing at the age of 6. “We all had our role model that we’d try to be in the mirror with a hairbrush for a microphone,” Camille says. “For me, it was either Janet Jackson or Whitney Houston.” She attributes her musical talent to her mom, who has always sung soulful music in the church and still fills the house with it. Camille has been a singer and keyboardist in three bands: Soul Prodigy, Kewl Beanz, and currently Rented Mule. She has opened for prominent artists such as Ashford & Simpson, WAR, The O'Jays, and Kevin Eubanks. She has performed in several venues, including The Taste of Chicago, The West Oak Lane Jazz & Arts Festival, The Arie Crowne Theater, The Rumba, The Yacht Club, Checkerboard Lounge, Inclusive, and Weeds. Resting is the last thing this budding diva will be doing. She will be touring with her new band, Rented Mule, which has radio airplay on over one hundred stations nationwide and Canada. In addition, she sings jazz with The Rodney Gipson Quartet, and never stops working in the studio. She and Rented Mule are recording a 2nd album, and Camille's personal album will drop shortly after. Camille hopes to hook a record deal soon to release her music for the world to hear. People describe her music as upbeat, smooth, and relaxing. It is there to pique your listening senses. Each song takes you by surprise and captivates you in a different way so you never know what to expect. But somehow, it congeals under the same umbrella. “In my music, many times I am telling the story of something that I experienced, or I am speaking directly to someone,” Camille describes. Essentially, she feels that everyone’s life is a story. She has just set hers to music.
