The Annual Camp Ben Reunion is a long standing tradition dating back to 1896 when a group of Confederate Veterans and their families decided to get together for a reunion. The 40 acre Camp Ben McCulloch has served as home of the Annual Reunion since 1904.
Today the Annual Reunion has evolved into an 8 day gathering of families (many of whom camp the whole week) from across Texas who ascend on Camp Ben McCulloch every June to partake in the Camp Ben Reunion festivities. Everybody is welcome and encouraged to come and be a part of the tradition that is Camp Ben.
During each year's Reunion you can enjoy: A Carnival and Games, Dancing, Music, Bingo, Washer Pitching, Homemade Ice Cream, "42" Dominoes, Swimming and Sun Bathing in a spring fed Onion Creek, and much much more.
Come and scoot your boots under the beautiful Hill Country stars at Camp Ben McCulloch's unique outdoor dance hall. Dances are held on each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night of the Reunion from 9:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. Our dances are BYOB so come prepared if you chose. No alcohol is sold on Camp Ben Grounds. All ages are welcome at our dances. Past performers include; Jason Allen, Paul Eason, Ricky Calmbach, Peoples Choice, Texas Renegade, and The Dave Jorgenson Band, among many others.
Who I'd like to meet:
As you can tell this page is brand new to Camp Ben. If you have any pictures from past Camp Ben Reunions that you would like to share, it would be greatly appreciated.
Lance Lipinsky and his band the Showdowns make their national television debut on the Grand Ole Opry at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN hosted by Le Ann Rimes. Songs include "Don't the Girls Get Prettier At Closing Time" By Mickey Gilley and an original song, "Nothing To Lose Except My Heart. "
I usually don't watch the reenactments. You know, you've seen one, you've seen them all. I do, however, enjoy watching my Mom yell "Kill those damn Yankees". Embarassed us horribly when we were kids though. The reenactment, for me, has always been the best time to shower. The water pressure is awesome and I can ususally get enough water to rinse the shampoo out of my hair :)
