Community Involvement
YOU CAN MAKE CHANGE. WE are all change agents and we have a great opportunity to make the world a better place by way of each individualss actions, the choice is yours...Join us and be part of the solution, this is the message behind the community involvement that Campout sponsors. It is a responsibility of us all.
CaMpOuT Roots Fights poverty by hosting multiple food drives throughout the year. The food and money raised is donated to the Feed My People Food Bank located in Eau Claire Wisconsin.
Feed My People distributes over 600,000 pounds of food annually to hunger relief agencies in a 14 county area of western Wisconsin. Literally thousands of people are helped each year through the work of Feed My People, many of whom are children.
In 2006 alone CaMpOuT Folk provided over 159 meals to people who were in need.
In 2007 Campout Folk Food Drives have raised close to 600 lbs of food and $151.00 in cash donations.
Our first food drive for 2008 was a major success with 245 pounds of food donated and 68.00 raised.
In a continuing effort to make a postive impact on our world and in our community look for other great activities to become involved in, coming in the near future.

The Campout Roots Festival and Gathering is a 3 day music festival that has been making people smile and jam since 2001. The festival showcases many of the best regional and locals bands in the music scene. Built on the philosophy of community and togetherness the Campout Roots Festival and Gathering has stayed true to this grassroots idea. It is a safe place to make friends and have a great time with old friends. Campout Roots is a growing community and we want you to be a part of the experience!
The festival is an intimate gathering made up of a community of believers that share the campout vision and many new friends joining along side of us. A weekend at CaMpOuT Roots is filled with fun activities and lots of FRISBEE GOLF, fun games, and of course DRUM CIRCLES. The Campout Crew is made up of music lovers that know how to get down and dance their butts off. This gathering has been put together for people just like you, plain and simple.... Come join us...
"This festival is about one thing, music- not attendence, not profit margins, not anything besides dancing our butts off..."

The Venue
The 2009 Campout Roots Festival and Gathering will be held in the beautiful hills and woods of Black River Falls Wisconsin. Many of you have helped make Black River Falls a memorable campground for the last few years.
NCN North is conveniently located 5 miles off Interstate I-94 with only one simple turn off the interstate onto NORTH US hwy 12/27. The Campground offers 75+ acres of spacious camping, with plenty of wooded camping. A beautiful swimming pond with beach (onsite) has been a favorite of many of the Campout Folk and the campground offers plenty of walking trails, pavilions, volleyball courts flush toliets, showers, and a great main stage and side stages tucked back far from the road. This campground has it all and is an ideal location for a music festival. The Campout is a safe community where you are free to express yourself and can leave behind many of the day to day stresses of life.
Gates will open at high noon on Thursday June 4th and will close at 2pm Sunday june 7th. We have many fun activities plan and are working hard to make this year’s gathering another great time. In the past we have had workshops, a Frisbee golf course, fire dancers, drum circles, and of course plenty of great bands!!

It all started so long ago, where should we even begin... It all really began before we knew it... We were all living our days chasing a dream, one that we were uncertain and hazy of the outcome, what we wanted or where to begin. That dream kept burning a hole in our souls telling us that it was what needed to be, what should be, and most importantly what could be. It was life as we knew it, and how we loved the passion that it embodied.
The roots festival got its name from what was the most important part of our show... Our Roots. That’s when some close/old friends and some new friends were united/reunited. A spark we were looking for was ignited, something new, something better, something great, something pure and fun, while being observant to our roots. The roots of everything we know, where we came from, how we were raised, and what we eventually have been evolving into. It is everything we live for and stand for, music, love, life, the joy of the moment, and the joy of giving and sharing, sharing what you have at hand with whom you have around you. Sharing thoughts and ideas, sharing memories, while making new ones. We wanted something completely true and honest, something to look forward to. There are no words known to us that would help us convey what the campout is about. It is something that changes people and creates experiences that last a life time.
In this complicated world and this overly complex society, we wanted to offer some sort of freedom-from that society, from every day living, pain, anxiety, stress-just plain and simple, care free fun-that of which we all remember clearly from our childhood days. We want to promote togetherness... being able to freely express you thoughts. Its sort of our way of giving back, not only to the fortunate ones who can attend, but also in helping those in our community who are less fortunate - which is where the origin of the food drive started. We share this ideology with everything we do, that is bringing positive energy and making something happen.
It is caring, compassion, understanding and an infallible love that makes us inherently human. We can all make this world a better place and still have fun doing it...
"Bring a song! Bring a friend! These three nights will never end"
Peace Togetherness and Big Big dreams

Friday, Nov 13: Blake Thomas & Josh Harty (Full Band)
"Sung with resonant soulfulness, the evocatively melancholy title track [Flatlands] ought to become the Midwest's national anthem." -The Village Voice. "Each tune is carefully crafted, focusing on the intricacies of intertwining instruments as well as the poetics of the lyrics... Perhaps most distinctive of those pieces is the voice of Blake Thomas. Like Robert Plant or Eddie Vedder, Thomas creates a sound I fall victim to every time. It takes only one note to recognize the voice and realize I need to hear more." -The Badger Herald
Authentic Reggae and Caribbean music featuring Jamaican born Karstan Stora on Caribbean Steel drums, plus an all-star lineup of local talent backing him up including Mike Larscheid
