Bio
"They are the obvious successors to the sadly-vacant Pantera throne, as well as contenders for ZZ Top-level status." Like many rockers, Chris Keith caught the rock and roll bug as a small town kid. He first tried hs hand at guitar before deciding later that he wanted to be a singer. For a short time he lived in the Houston area where, at a very young age, he led his own band. His prolific output of poetic free-verse is often converted into song lyrics. A former teacher and banking advisor, he has little trouble engaging and relating to people. Working a crowd seems to come naturally to him. Upon returning to Arlington he met guitarist Glenn Yackel, who shared similar musical interests. The two became fast friends and soon began jamming together. Originally from Chicago, Glenn has been playing guitar for nearly twenty years. Although he certainly shares the lead guitar duties, he is also a master of the almost-lost are of rhythm guitar playing. Capable of Clapton-like tone as well as James Hetfield-type crunch, he can switch between lead and rhythm without missing a beat. He is also responsible for many of the melodies that become the band's tunes. On lead guitar is Billy Brown, hailing from Tuscaloosa, who appears to display a natural ability towards the instrument. He got the fiddlin’ fever after receiving a few basic lessons from his late father. By his mid-20’s he became much more serious about his talent. Billy was long-time friends with Chris and Glenn, and shared their love of Metallica, Pantera, Iron Maiden, and Slayer; as well as punk bands like The Ramones and Black Flag. When his former band hit the skids, he joined up with Chris and Glenn’s group. Billy is a self-taught picker, reeling off stinging solos and laid-back progressions with relative ease. New Jersey-born, Dallas-raised Daniel Sperandeo plays the drums and is the spirit of the band. His first instrument was the saxophone. With his parent’s encouragement he continued his musical interest throughout his school years, playing a variety of instruments and styles. He pursued his ambitions through various classes, functions, and jamming with friends. He too comes up with many song ideas that he, Glenn, and Billy often flesh out together. Daniel is a solid in-the-pocket drummer yet also produces tribal flourishes and backbeat cadences that give the band its unique sound and distinct style. A long-time fixture of the Texas punk and rockabilly scene, Deejay Andrews provides the simple earth and bottom end glue. He has only been playing the bass for a year. He was originally a singer, and says the now applies “what he knows” to the “washboard”. He says his playing style can be traced back to one main source-Lee Dorman or Iron Butterfly- insisting that if one listens to the early Butterfly recordings, they’ll definitely hear Lee’s influence. He also admits to getting ideas and inspiration from other instruments and player; such as Ian Paice’s drumming on the early Deep Purple albums, and Stray Cats upright slap-bassist Lee Rocker. -
