Cana Cankaya was born in 1979 in Istanbul. When she was 7, she joined Istanbul State Opera and Ballet’s children choir and performed in several operas and musical theatres such as The Queen of Spades (Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky), The Soldier’s Tale (Igor Stravinsky), Othello (Guiseppe Verdi) and Yusuf ile Zuleyha (Okan Demiris). She continued to perform in children choir for seven years. During these years, she also studied acting at the Muhsin Ertuğrul State Theatre for one year. In addition she recorded jingles for numerous commercials and worked with Turkey’s important producers such as Melih Kibar, Fahir Atakoglu, Atilla Ozdemiroglu and Arto Tunc Boyaciyan. In 1991, entered Istanbul University State Conservatory’s trumpet department. In 1998, composed the soundtrack named “The People of the Light” for a documentary movie “Bergama” which took the third prize in Retina International documentary and short film festival. In 2001, played trumpet in world renown saxophonist Ricky Ford’s Istanbul Jazz Collective Big Band which was sponsored by Bilgi University and they performed in some International Jazz Festivals.
Since she was 16, she participated in various International and National music festivals both with her band and individually. From 2002 to 2006, performed with the house music band named Main Project, as a singer and a trumpet player. Between the years of 2002 – 2003, played trumpet in albums of the popular Turkish bands; Mor ve Otesi and Maya. During these years, with collaborations of DJ’s from United States Miami, she composed and sang a single (Wish) that was realesed by Casa Del Soul Records. In 2006, she composed and performed a song named “Surreal Heights” that was realesed from the same record company. In 2006, she toured with her own band Playhouse.
Beside her music career she interests in Photography. In 1997 she shorlty worked as an amateur photographer after being inspired by her photographer father. She also interests Interior design and decoration, and she participated in multiple design and decorations works.

Biografi/ CANA ÇANKAYA
1979 yilinda Istanbul’ da dogdu. Sahne yasamina adimini 1986 yilinda Atatürk kültür merkezi ‘nin gerçeklestirdigi çocuk korosu sinavina girerek yapti,
Istanbul Devlet opera ve balesi çocuk korosuna seçildi ve ses egitimine basladi. Birçok konser,opera ve müzikallerde sahne aldi. ( Maça kizi, Istanbul gülü, Askerin öyküsü, Othello, Yusuf ile Züleyha, Bir Uzay Masali.. vs.) Çocuk korosuna yedi sene devam etti.
1987 yilinda Muhsin Ertugrul tiyatrosunda bir sene tiyatro ve bale çalismalarinda bulundu, ve bazi reklam filmleri ‘nin seslendirmelerini gerçeklestirdi. Bu çalismalarda ;Melih Kibar, Fahir Atakoglu, Atilla Özdemiroglu,Arto Tunç Boyaciyan ile çalisti.
1991 yilinda Istanbul Üniversitesi Devlet Konservatuvari..nin düzenledigi sinavlari basari ile geçti ve trompet /piyano bölümüne girmeye hak kazandi.1998 yilinda Viyana’da ödül alan, Bergama ile ilgili "isik insanlari" (people of the light) adli belgesel'in müzigini yapti.
2001 yilinda Istanbul Bilgi Üniversitesi bünyesinde,Istanbul Jazz Collective Bigband..de trompet çalmaya basladi. Grupla 6 büyük konserde yer aldi (Babylon). 16 yasindan itibaren birçok organizasyonda grup veya solist olarak çalisti. Her zaman yapmak istedigi müzik tarzi ile varoldu.
2002 yilinda kurulan bir müzik grubu ile solist (trompet / vokal) olarak çalismaya basladi. Festivaller ve özel organizasyonlarda birçok performans sergiledi.
2002 – 2003 yillarinda "mor ve ötesi","maya" gibi müzik gruplarinin albüm çalismalarinda trompet çaldi.
2004 - 2005 yillarinda grubu ile konserlerde ve organizasyonlarda,performanslarina devam etti. Ayni yil içerisinde Miami' de Casa Del Soul Records ile iki dj esliginde kisisel plak çalismasi (vokal ve beste) oldu ve satisa sunuldu. ( " wish " 20 aralik 2005 )

Meslegi disinda ilgili oldugu konular, fotograf sanati, dekorasyon ve tasarim.1995 yilinda taki tasarimi ile ilgilenmeye ve çalismalarina basladi.1997 yilinda babasi’nin meslegi olan fotograf sanati ile amatör olarak ilgilendi. Dekorasyon, iç dekorasyon, tasarim her zaman zevk aldigi yapmaktan hoslandigi çalismalar oldu.

In 1967, San Francisco’s Fifty Foot Hose were certainly one of the
innovators of a sound that took Psychedelia to new heights and was
captured on the band’s one record, Cauldron. They are a totally
unique hybrid—on one hand pulsating bay area acid rock, on the other,
fractured electronic freakery, becoming one whole cohesive being. The
sci-fi-ish video game-like artwork hinted at the sounds within, as did
the Limelight label’s pedigree for truly progressive sounds. Band
leader, Cork Marcheschi, used homemade electronic devices to create
crude and experimental soundscapes and instrumental compositions that
were sprinkled throughout the album.
Often starting shows with a swelling rumble that exploded into the
first song, they soon developed a rabid following on the SF scene,
though there was the occasional totally wrong gig, like when a
very-pregnant Nancy had to perform at a Catholic Girls’ school! Still,
the group wowed the crowds, performing with greats like Chuck Berry and
Fairport Convention.
