Busing into town from Auckland's central suburbs (one stage, please), Canadia traded copies of the 2008 EP One Dog Clapping for support slots and samosas. The band's latest release, Beg Steal and Burrow, casts off the bedroom claustrophobia and replaces it with a warm back shed sing-along. Mixing country guitars with swells of baroque piano and layers of singer Ashley Noel Hinton's harmonies, Canadia creates sincere chamber pop evocative of its indie and alt-country heroes. Stand out tracks like the delicate 'Other Side' are sure to grab some attention, and not just because it features a Sami Sister.
