Coo_Coo's Kalan Porter Fan Space

Kalan is a triple threat talent from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. He's an accomplished musician who started playing the violin when he was five and moved on to voice lessons a few years later.

Music has been a central part of Kalan's life. Having studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music he's played in classical quartets, as well as two family bands.

So how do I know about him? Kalan got his big break when he won the 2004 edition of the popular TV show Canadian Idol, a branch of the British show Pop Idol. After his win he got a record deal with Sony BMG Music Canada and put out one album in November 2004 called 219 Days. This album has since gone double platinum in Canada and Kalan has played a sixty five date sold out tour to support it.

After Kalan's tour ended in 2005, he was ready to begin writing his sophomore album when he got the shock of his life - his mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer. As a result of this Kalan took time off and went back home to be there for her.

So things were pretty quite for his fans for awhile but with his mother recovered, Kalan released his second album called "Wake Up Living" in 2007.

Now, after another tour and a SOCAN songwriters award for his hit "Hurray" Kalan is working on a 3rd album - who knows what could come next.
