Band MembersAlex Young and I have worked together and performed together for a long time and he has been very influential in the musical directions taken by Poem de Terre. "The Stalker" is one of several songs we've written together. The version I'm posting here of "The Stalker" is pretty much a rough draught, but I think it's a fun performance by Alex.

"The Stalker" is a sort of love song, but tends to be very dark. We haven't really fully resolved this one yet, but I thought it might be interesting to hear. In its words and music, the song includes references to Del Reeves' "The Girl on the BillBoard," Del Shannon's "Runaway," and Ray Stevens' "It's Me again, Margaret" among other songs.

The other three songs were written by me and are performed by me and some friends. The recordings and performances are definitely not mainstream or top-forty material, but you my find them of interest.

Only I, Bob MacKenzie, am responsible for these recordings and for anything else on this page. If the names of any others who may have participated in the making of these recordings are not mentioned, it's in order to protect their reputations. (I'm not sure whether or not I should add a smiley thingy here.)

I accept full credit (or blame) for anything you may see or hear on this page. If any other individual had assisted in making these recordings, then surely they must have been drugged or hypnotized by me and had no idea what I was making them do.

"Holding My Breath" is just me all by myself. "Do Angels Sing The Blues" and "Life Underground" feature me and my talented - if foolhardy to perform with me and let me produce - friends Julie and Steve.

Enjoy.

   About Bob MacKenzie
There is no "band" except in my head. I hear the music and it's got to get out. The songs here are not demo tracks. They are simply attempts to get songs out of my head to where others can hear them. Nothing more.

As a writer, what I would really like is for an artist to hear something in one of my songs and to develop that. I'd like a singer to take my song, the words and basic melody/chords, and create his or her own interpretation. For me, that's like magic.

An excellent example is the 2003 recording of The Silken Wind by a wonderful young American artist, Alysson Light on her second album, Looking Glass Conversations. (Another version of The Silken Wind, is available on the new War & Love CD by Poem de Terre.)

Oh yes, I do have a band, Poem de Terre which also exists mostly in my head until we actually perform live or record a CD. We've been playing together now for more than thirteen years.

You can find MySpace pages with recordings by Poem de Terre at:
www.myspace.com/longtimepassing, or at:
www.myspace.com/june1966.

Unlike this page, which is deliberately set up at a "rough draught" level, the Poem de Terre pages should, I hope, give a good indication of the talented musicians with whom I work and of my own abilities as a writer, performer, director, and producer. If nothing else, they'll demonstrate the difference between these rough draughts and our finished work.
