Cancel The Astronauts are a five-piece pop band from Edinburgh. We write tunes about stalking and inappropriate lusting and stalking and sexing and stuff, and other songs with guitars in and nice beats you can dance to.
Our debut EP is available ..now.. in download form from itunes and napster and emusic and probably some other people. Physical copies with a lovely sleeve that you can touch with your hands and stuff are available at gigs in exchange for some pounds, and via the paypal button on our website, also for some pounds. We'll even post it to you!
We’ve been lucky enough to share the stage with such luminaries as Frightened Rabbit, Found, Attic Lights, Parka, Juno!, Meursault, The Kays Lavelle, Come On Gang! Kid Canaveral and many more, although obviously not all at the same time.
A nice man from The Skinny went to one of our gigs recently and felt compelled to record the following:
..“Songs about working men's clubs in Kilmarnock may not be the most glamorous subject matter, but Cancel The Astronauts (****) pull them off with a kind of exuberance usually reserved for Mardi Gras. CTA's music is perfectly embodied in their lead singer: his upper body attire of waistcoat and tie reflect the smart, Strokes-esque basslines, whilst his red tracksuit bottoms are symbolic of the irreverent playfulness that sets them apart. For fans of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah: this is how you wish they sounded live.”..
Thanks, nice man from The Skinny!
You may like to while away some time on our website: canceltheastronauts.co.uk, where you will find more of our music, self-indulgent writings, and shockingly amateur web design. Hurrah!
All our artwork is hand-drawn by the very talented Ulla Saar in Estonia. Thanks Ulla!
