Banda Death Metal proveniente de la ciudad de Concepción, Chile; formada el año 1987 por su vocalista PETER y disuelta el ’94; alcanzaron a grabar 2 demos “GUARDIAN OF HELL” (1988) y “PERPETUAL AGONY” (1991), los cuales lograron excelente crítica tanto de los bangers como de las ‘zines de ese entonces; además compartieron escenario con bandas íconos de ese estilo por esos años tales como: ATOMIC AGGRESSOR – DEATH YELL – TORTURER … por nombrar sólo algunas, se reforma en Enero del 2001 con 2 de sus miembros originales: PETER (Bass, Vocals) y ENRIQUE “FETO” (Guitar) y completando la banda MILTON (Drums). Con ese Line-Up trabajaron en la composición de nuevo material, pero conservando fielmente toda la fuerza e intensidad del Death Metal de la vieja escuela de los 80’s. En Septiembre del 2002 ingresa a la banda ESTEBAN (BLACK MOON) como segunda guitarra, dándole mucho más peso y fuerza al Death Metal de CANCERBERO y ratificando por el buen momento que estaba pasando la banda, incluso compartieron escenario con otra clásica banda chilena de los 80..s: MASSAKRE. Cuando ya se creía que todo estaba bien, un nuevo problema interno vuelve a separar a la banda en el 2003, lo cual durará hasta el año 2006 cuando se decide nuevamente reformar la banda, esta vez con nuevo batero: ERIK (BLACK MOON-NOKTEM). Con esta alineación: PETER (Bass, Vocals) - ENRIQUE “FETO” (Guitar) - ESTEBAN (Guitar) - ERIK (Drums) se compusieron nuevos temas, los cuales mantenían el fiel legado de lo que se hacía en esos gloriosos años!!!.
Noviembre 2006 se retiran sus 2 más nuevos músicos (ERIK y ESTEBAN) y vuelve MILTON (Drums) a la banda.
Noviembre 2007 graban un nuevo demo llamado “ABOMINATIONS FROM HELL” el cual contiene 5 temas de puro Old School Death Metal!!
Año 2008 ingresa un nuevo guitarrista llamado HANS, Julio 2008 se graba el demo “THE CARNAGE CONTINUES” el cual consta de 3 temas (Pure Rawness & Brutality!!!), se reedita el demo 1991 “PERPETUAL AGONY” en un 3 Way Split CD junto a CORPSE GRINDER Y HELLFIRE y además se reedita el demo 1988 “GUARDIAN OF HELL” en Tape!!!
Enero 2009 se retira un histórico de la banda ENRIQUE “FETO” (Guitar), quedando esta como trío, además se lanza en un solo protape ambos demos (2007-2008) bajo el sello UNDERGROUND DEFENDERS de Chile, Febrero 2009 se reedita en Brasil el demo 2008 bajo el sello VISAO UNDERGROUND RECORDS, Marzo 2009 se reedita el demo 2007 bajo el sello francés MALTKROSS RECS.
Septiembre del 2009 entra un nuevo baterista llamado LEO en reemplazo de MILTON.
Cancerbero is a cult Death Metal band from Concepción-Chile originally formed in 1987 by vocalist PETER and splited-up in 1994 with 2 demos recorded before that (GUARDIAN OF HELL-1988 & PERPETUAL AGONY-1991) both demos received great reviews from bangers and ‘zines of that time and played with the best Death Metal bands in Chile such as: ATOMIC AGGRESSOR – DEATH YELL - TORTURER...and more. Many years goes by and CANCERBERO was reformed in 2001 with two original members (PETER - Bass, vocals & ENRIQUE “FETO”-guitars) and a new drummer called MILTON. With this line-up the band composed new songs full of heavyness and brutality keeping the old school vein. In September 2002 a new guitar called ESTEBAN (who played in BLACK MOON) was added to the band and then they played with the cult band MASSAKRE but a new internal problem appeared and the band splitted-up again in 2003. Three years after in 2006 the old school flame burnt again but this time with a new drummer called ERIK (who played in BLACK MOON – NOKTEM). With this line-up: PETER (bass, vocals)-ENRIQUE “FETO” (guitar)-ESTEBAN (guitar)-ERIK (drums) composed new songs keeping the 80’s legacy.
November 2006 ESTEBAN & ERIK leave the band for personal reasons and returned MILTON (drums) to the band.
November 2007 they recorded a new demo called “ABOMINATIONS FROM HELL” with 5 tracks of pure Old School Death Metal!!!
2008 a new guitarrist is added it’s name HANS, July 2008 a new demo is recorded called “THE CARNAGE CONTINUES” with 3 tracks of killer Death Metal...Pure Rawness & Brutality!!! also demo 1991 “PERPETUAL AGONY” is reedited in a 3 Way Split CD with HELLFIRE & CORPSE GRINDER and also demo 1988 “GUARDIAN OF HELL” is reedited in Tape!!!
January 2009 an historic member ENRIQUE “FETO” (Guitar) left the band, now they are as a trio...also both 2007 & 2008 demos are edited in one tape under the Chilean Label “UNDERGROUND DEFENDERS RECS.”...February 2009 its 2008 demo is reedited in Brasil under “VISAO UNDERGROUND RECS.”...March 2009 its 2007 demo is reedited in tape under the French Label “MALTKROSS RECS.”...September 2009 Milton is reeplaced by LEO on Drums.

Parece mentira que en los tiempos que corren hayan bandas todavía desconocidas a pesar de la calidad que desprenden, se podría decir que a estos chilenos llamados Cancerbero les a pasado algo así, solo los conocen que yo sepa aquí en España muy pocos, los mas metidos en el death metal de corte clásico y poco mas. Habiéndose formado en 1987, fecha en la cual todavía algunas bandas mas míticas no se habían ni formado (o estaban sacando sus primeros temas) a lo largo de los cinco temas que nos encontramos nos muestran lo que mejor saben hacer y han hecho siempre, puro y jodido death metal puramente "old school".
Las influencias que tienen son bastante variadas, lo mismo te pueden sonar a unos primerizos Possessed, Hellhammer que a unos muy jóvenes Morbid Angel (era demos) inclusive la mezcla de ambos y aunque parezca mentira, el sonido general es bastante propio, notándose las tablas que tienen. La producción de la demo grabada en el Casa Rock (Chile) es totalmente de unos 20 años atrás, todo suena con una crudeza destacable sin perder cada instrumento su papel, ni ser absorbido por otro sonando cada cosa en su lugar aunque quizás el sonido de guitarra podría haber estado algo mas alto pero es un dato efímero, el conjunto de sonoridades es mas que correcto. Me han recordado a unos primerizos Shub Niggurath encuanto a estructuras pero sabiendo que estos son de la misma camada, el sonido es parecido pero no igual.
Una demo grabada con tres pares de pelotas sin duda alguna, actitud 100% vieja escuela, música directa sin florituras, puro death sin miramientos con un claro resultado, el revivir un estilo que nunca a estado tan muerto (en el sentido de que death significa muerto, claramente).Una banda a conocer a pesar de que lleven tanto tiempo y apenas los conozcan la gente, desde aquí so animo a que los conozcáis, destacar que en el libreto de la demo aparecen imágenes de todas las etapas de la banda desde sus inicios hasta hoy.

Posers fiquem longe! O Cancerbero é uma banda insana de old school death metal de Concepción/Chile. Banda já tradicional na cena chilena, a banda conta com poucos registros na sua carreira e esse é o quarto deles, uma demo recheada de culto aos anos 80 intitulado “Abominations from Hell”.
A banda funciona como um trio, com Peter (baixo e vocais), Enrique “Feto” (guitarra) e Milton (Bateria).
A demo conta com 4 musicas e mais uma faixa bônus! Iniciando com “Old School Days”, uma faixa bem direta e que mostra o intenso death metal latino-americano que o cancerbero ajudou a perpetuar no continente! Com riffs fudidos, bateria agressiva e baixos bem colocados a porrada toma início! Seguida de “Dark Messiah” que adiciona um pouco de thrash ao artefato! Depois temos “Possessed by Bollo” mais uma intensa que é porrada do começo ao fim! “Skullbreaker” segue o massacre! A mesma linha brutal é mantida por todas as musicas! E a faixa bônus “Guardian of Hell” que é antiga e de 1987 põe fim ao material! Muito fudido esse play dos irmãos chilenos!
As influências variam de Possessed, Sarcófago, Sodom e Morbid Angel.
A arte gráfica é condizente com o som da banda! Cru e satânico! E o encarte conta com várias fotos da banda ao vivo e na estrada!

"Abominations From Hell" es la demo de esta veterana banda chilena llamada Cancerbero. Digo veterana ya que por lo que he podido informarme, esta banda cuenta con una demo del ..88 y otra del ..91("Guardian of hell" y "Perpetual agony" respectivamente),luego en el 94 la banda se separa y no es hasta 2007 que se reúnen y sacan la demo "..20 years of alcoholic carnage", por tanto "abominations from hell" es la segunda demo de ese año.Los componentes actuales son; Peter-Bajo y voces-,Enrique Feto-Guitarra- y Milton -Batería-.
En lo musical Cancerbero es una banda que toca un Death Metal primitivo con ramalazos thrasheros, muy en la onda del comienzo de esa escena chilena como Death Yell o Atomic aggressor, sin olvidar influencias clásicas como Possessed, Hellhammer, Messiah, Onslaught etc. Es por tanto un sonido oscuro y agresivo, aunque se ve empañado por un pobre sonido en la guitarra (comprensible ya que es autoproducida) que en ocasiones, sobre todo en las partes rapidas, se ve eclipsada por la voz y la batería.
La demo esta compuesta por 4 temas("Olds chool days","Dark messiah","Possessed by bollo" y "Skullbreaker") y un bonus(Guardian of hell), en general se tratan de temas rápidos y agresivos donde abundan riffs thrash como he comentado antes(ya el primer riff en "old school days" da buena cuenta de ello)y también se pueden encontrar algunos medios tiempos que en mi opinión son de lo mejor de la demo.También en mi opinión el mejor tema de la demo es el bonus, ya que es mas variado contrastando riffs lentos con medios tiempos.Tambien entran algunos solos muy en onda Possessed,pero quedan algo vacíos ya que no están apoyados por una segunda guitarra.
En resumen una demo interesante, pero quizás un poco desmejorada por el sonido, sobre todo de la guitarra,pero tampoco deja de ser una buena demo.

...Bienvenido infierno , con esta pieza de maldad total!!!!!, excelente demo de estos chilenos , 5 satanicos temas de los cuales todos son devastadores me gusto el tema (Dark messiah blasfemando %666 furia total!!!!y old school days) tocan netamente thrash death metal por cortes rapidos devastadores vieja escuela este demo trae una buena caratula fotos buen diseño, las vocales son netamente venidas del propio averno me hacen recordara en algo al viejo PSYCHIC POSSESSOR , Y , hace que complemente a este un gran trabajo.

"This time It's not a young band I'm reviewing, and surely not a "retro" one! The Chilean CANCERBERO was founded back in 1987 and shared the stage during live performances during the late 80's and early 90's with the best and most well-known Death Metal bands from that country, such as DEATH YELL, ATOMIC AGGRESSOR and TORTURER, which's stuff can be found even here in Israel. The band released 2 demos that received great reviews in the underground back in 1989 and 1991 and then split up in 1994. In 2001 CANCERBERO was reformed with a different lineup and split up again in 2003. The last time they became active was in 2006 and since then they released a rehealsal and a demo that's I'm going to review, hoping that this time this band will stay active for longer than ever and will kick ass for many more years :-)
Musicwise - it's typical South-American Death/Thrashm which I can't believe that was recorded just a year ago, for it sounds like it was recorded back in 1988! It features 5 songs, 4 are new and 1 was written back in 1987! The sound is definitely raw and it doesn't seem that it was recorded in a very professional studio, but it's just great that it has this rawness, because while every instrument sounds clear here, the sound isn't polished and it doesn't sound plastic. The riffs are also typical for the genre, they're not too complicated, but they're really aggressive and will surely make you want to bang your head! The vokillz are something between aggressive thrashy vokills and growling and the voice is reminiscent of Wangner Antichrist. Overall the demo reminds of such raw classics as Sepultura's first demo and it's definitely recommended to all those who like raw Death/Thrash the violent South American way. The songs are pretty short (there's only 1 song longer than 3 minutes, the others are between only 2:12 and 2:40 minutes long) and the problem here that they totally lack solos. At the moments when one might expect to hear a solo - there are only riffs. And despite the fact that the riffs here are really killer, it's still not an excuse for the lack of solos."

Meu amigo, o que é isso? Ao colocar essa Demo da chilena Cancerbero sou, de cara, atacado com um furioso Death Metal, como o estilo deve ser tocado! A música “Devastating Force of Evil” faz jus ao seu título e abre com uma força devastadora do mal! Riffs odiosos despejados sem qualquer pudor, numa velocidade alucinante, mas sem soar moderno. Na verdade, apesar da velocidade apresentada nas músicas, o Death Metal da banda soa ‘old school’, e quando essa velocidade é aliada a passagens marcadas, como em “Bestial Sacrifice of the Weak”, essa impressão fica ainda mais latente. Essa música ainda apresenta um solo desconcertante, em seu final. “Death Till Death” vem pra finalizar de forma furiosa essa Demo, que só merece elogios, já que apresenta uma sonoridade calcada na ‘velha escola’, mas apresentando uma fúria que só vem a impressionar o ouvinte. A gravação está um pouco abafada, e dá todo um ‘charme’ a esse trabalho. Já a parte gráfica é bem simplória, com um encarte simples, mas que apresenta diversas informações, exceto letras. Os responsáveis por esse lançamento: Peter (baixo/vocal), Enrique e Hans (guitarras) e Milton (bateria). Apesar do lançamento independente, esse material pode ser adquirido, no Brasil, através do selo Visão Underground Records.
