  • Music

    both kinds. country and western.
  • Movies

sling blade, pi, requiem for a dream, fight club, ferris bueller's day off, True Romance, pulp fiction, swingers, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, crouching tiger hidden dragon, akeela and the bee, pan's labyrinth, ro (the endings of these two kung fu movies are some of the most beautiful things i have ever seen, rivaled only by the end of rocky I), Donnie Darko, Tim burton... Pee wee's big adventure and edward scissorhands, better off dead, heathers, the boondock saints, punch drunk love, henry: the portrait of a serial killer, noises off, rosemary's baby, the world according to garp, ravenous (the first half of this dark comedy is incredible.. but after that not so much eh?), solaris... slow but good, trust by hal hartley, super troopers, swingers, the last time i committed suicide, mallrats and clerks, wild at heart, the princess bride, ZORBA THE GREEK. the jerk, The Iron Giant, the neverending story. Over the edge (starring a young matt damon.) Master of the flying guillotine I am a sucker for sports movies where the underdog wins. including but not limited to: Rudy, Breaking Away, the karate kid 1 and 2, Rocky 1,2, and 4. they always make me cry. Rocky four wasn't quiet as poignant, then again it did end the cold war...Rocky 5 also makes me cry, but not in a good way.
  • Television

buffy the vampire slayer and angel(yeah i admit it), freaks and geeks, home movies, csi, space ghost (esp. brak, but not his own show) sealab 2021, jeopardy, malcolm in the middle, the boondocks, robot chicken, but i really think tv mostly rots your brain
  • Books

stranger in a strange land- heinlin, of mice and men -steinbeck, hitchikers guide to the galaxy- adams, good omens -gaiman, Lamb the story of christ according to his childhood pal biff-moore, the elephant vanishes -murakami, poetry by raymond carver... especially the book where water comes together with other water. sylvia plath, vonnegut and o'henry. also almost any existential author, dostoevsky esp. the dark tower series by stephen king, focault's pendulum -eco, and while i hate ayn rand, ive read most of her books, go figure..., the trial by franz kafka, jonathan strange and mr. norrell. chuck palanhiuk... lullaby is my favorite, cs lewis esp. "a grief observed" , fahrenheit 451, night- elie weisel, notes from underground - dostoevsky, one flew over the cuckoo's nest, bridge to terabithia, the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime(a mystery written from the point of view of an adoescent autistic kid trying to figure out who killed his dog). a spot of bother, wicked, son of a witch, nietzsche was a crazy mother, but he really did get some stuff right, but his works after he got syphillis and really began to hate women make me chuckle. any carl hiassen is a good read. i also really liked the world according to garp. the 3rd and 6th harry potter books are the best. the second is the worst. wicked and son of a witch. the natural - much better than the movie - in the book he doesn't acknowledge his flaws until he has hit bottom and it is too late to save himself. i am a big fan of unhappy endings...

About me:

All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism... Who spoke this line?? No not a "great american" such as george bush or dick cheney but rather Herman Goering at the nuremburg trials. - “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” Joseph Goebbels - - "See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda." George W Bush despite numerous warnings, President Woodrow Wilson signed the 1913 Federal Reserve Act. In his book he writes: wilson "A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men." - Woodrow Wilson
