In a grey, grey world of hairy-bearded men in jeans singing glum songs and going 'oh' a lot, Polly Pfonick and Andrew Pandy sat throwing spoons at the television and poking their eyes out with sharp sticks in an effort to escape the drudgery and doledrum.
Andy and Polly decided something had to be done or the world of pop music would be suffocated by these curly-haired complain rockers and their film star girlfriends.
That something regretably turned out to be Candy Bomb - an unfortunate name for an otherwise uneventful group. Toby Coleman (check out L-Shaped Room viewers), stood on his bass while we discovered guitarist Andrew Pond-Comfortably reading a copy of 'Take A Break' in our rehearsal room.
It was hardly a match made in Heaven - Toby couldn't play bass and Andrew P-C kept growing a beard, like his heroes from Clodplay, Moos and Radiolite.
After one recording session which produced nothing but frothy coffee and toffee treacle pudding-type songs, the band split. Polly and Andy ran off to form the altogether more impressive 'Taxipop9' while Toby and Andrew P-C got real jobs in real estate.
The rest is completely made-up nonsense.
Oh, apart from we were using glockenspiels and the celesta long before The Boy Least Likely To - probably!
