About me: My name is candy, as one could image that fact has affected my way of being and relating to others in many wonderful and unexpected ways. My dreams come true, eventually.......... i believe in the power of the mind, unseen forces, passion, beauty, astrology, the existance of eternal love, and............and...........and.......
Foremost, I am an independent mulit-media sculptor/installation artist working in a variety of materials/mediums that include, but are not limited to ceramics (porcelain clay), cast metal, silk-screened textiles and paper, lingere, fashion, space, light, photography film, human networks & connections, bikes and live female models.
For several years, I been blessed with great residencies in fantastic places (london, amsterdam, nyc, wisconsin, LA, cleveland, philadelphia, and in the near future japan & china) at art centers and museums that have afforded experiences of a life time and opportunites to meet, work with & get to know absolutely fascinating culture driven thinkers and creators. I am back in Netherlands @ EKWC.nl this summer finishing a film and creating new work of an erotically beautiful nature.
I have a beautiful silk-screen studio where i have just started a "StudioSchool of decorative art" in old city philadelphia dedicated to the memory of my father. I continue to work on my long-term project www.candycoated.org that focuses on contemporary understandings of decorative art, forms of beauty, and passion in lifestyle. This NEA and Pew Fellowship in the Arts funded work originally started out as my phd dissertation with the London Consortium @ the Tate Modern and will realize itself as an international publication by 2010.
To help fund my projects I started my own cottage industry with my unique product "moneymaker$", a fine line of silk-screened and crystal bedazzled panties exclusively in black and produced by candycoated studio, philadelphia, USA.
