  • Bio

Candythief, despite their name, have never knowingly stolen anything, not even from the stationery cupboard. The hard-grafted sounds you will hear on Technicolour Wilderness, their first full length ‘long player’, follows on from critically acclaimed Fence Records release Like/Unlike. This latest auditory offering takes a spin round the flavoursome worlds of folk, country and rock, before spitting it all out in an adulterated blend of gypsy psychedelic punk, fusing spookily catchy melodies with irresistible rhythms. The band features the talents of singer/songwriter, Diana de Cabarrus, with one Jem Doulton assisting on drums/vocals, and the two Jasons, Mr. Dickinson on the fiddle and Mr Simpson on bass. Shaun Keaveny featured the opening track of the album on his BBC 6 music breakfast show; the same track also received air time from Gideon Coe and Marc Riley on 6 Music, & material from the album has recently been played on radio 2 & radio 1. • Sounds Like

Well, comparisons have been drawn with such strong willed performers as Kristen Hirsh, PJ Harvey and also with Syd Barrett.

  • Sharon King / Reckless …

Sounds good for album launch, I recommend the Roxy Arthouse, they have 3 spaces. Make it very late september or october though coz everything and everyone shuts down for ages; post Edinburgh festival fringe slump while we re-group and re-energize. xxx
