| About Cannery Row |
|
Cannery Row is the brainchild of Mike Sharp and Dean Severson; friends,
neighbours, home brewers, conspiracy theorists and wry observers of the
body politic. Cannery Row was born of a desire to enjoy the company of
good musicians in a place where others might also gather to enliven the
space and sound created.
Dean Severson is a founding member of the Granite City Folk Society who
brings his appreciation for the intricacies of Texas Swing to his guitar
work with his six string flattop and dobro.
Mike Sharp combines rhythm guitar, harmonica, foot stomps and social
commentary in another expression of a lifelong commitment to dancing at the
revolution.
Gary Dockendorf is a walking encyclopedia of the musical form which has
come to be known as Americana. He has also played guitar and mandolin at
some of the finest back yards, front porches and living rooms in Stearns
County.
Chris Laumb takes a break from his roles as brewmaster, bike racer, and
father of two fine boys to add his licks on electric guitar to the canvas.
Together, they are Cannery Row.
Of course, John Steinbeck said it best. "Cannery Row.is a poem, a stink, a
grating noise, a quality of light, a tone, a habit, a nostalgia, a dream.
Cannery Row is the gathered and scattered, tin and iron and rust and
splintered wood, chipped pavement and weedy lots and junks heaps."
