Formed in 1988, Buffalo born/Tampa raised Cannibal Corpse helped found, manipulate and transcend the very boundaries of death metal beginning with the scandalously controversial debut, Eaten Back To Life . Raising the eyebrows of inquisitive metal heads and incensed parents and politicians, the record - produced by Scott Burns at the now renowned Morrisound Studios - was more extreme and confrontational than anything the metal genre had ever known. As a result of the band's brilliantly gruesome cover art, grisly lyrics and song titles like "Hammer Smashed Face," "Meat Hook Sodomy" and "Addicted To Vaginal Skin," follow-up records Butchered At Birth (1991) and Tomb Of The Mutilated (1992) were met with further contempt by the likes of such organized censorship leagues as the PMRC. In just three years, the sale of Cannibal Corpse merchandise was (temporarily) prohibited in Australia, Korea and New Zealand (in fact, the sale of Butchered At Birth and the performance of those three records is still forbidden in Germany). Sorry it's such late notice but we were wondering if you'd be willing to do a benefits show January 9th. Your schedule seems clear for that date. All of the proceeds go to a local school in the Plant City area for disabled children. With the money they'll be getting new art supplies, toys, books, diapers, and money for more fieldtrips. I figured you guys would be great candidates for this since you are from Tampa and you seem like awesome people. We already have the line up so far, the bigger named local bands are Holly Maddux, Ovid's Withering (they're playing with Behemoth in january), Sidereal Pulse, and Burning Fair Verona. We played in the room next to the main stage in Milwaukee last Saturday. Sonically, you guys were fucking incredible!!! I've never heard a band sound like that live! I was grabbing a beer in the upper balcony in the back, and my hands were holding the beer cup from falling off the bar cuz the kick drum was booming that hard!!! You guys had the best sound that night. Thank you for a badass metal show!!!
