CANOBLISS is a San Diego, CA based modern hard rock/metal band that breaks boundaries. Consisting of five diverse members with experiences, backgrounds, and influences bridging over multiple generational and style gaps, the result is a band that has been declared "One of the most unique independent metal bands making music today." -- Derric Miller (HardRockHaven.net), as well as "one of the best bands to come out of the US in the past few years." -- Steve Green (Live4Metal.com).
The band was originally founded in 1997 by long-term friends Samson Pedroza and Chenzo Vidalez. After releasing the album Wicked Necessary in 1998, there were years of turbulent times and multiple lineup changes until the band added brothers Mike and Jon Russo in early 2004. The band released their second album Demon Angel later that year. Unsatisfied with their vocalist at the time, Canobliss began looking for a new front-man in early 2005. After an exhaustive search and hundreds of auditions from hopefuls all over the world, Canobliss added Johan Maldonado in the summer of 2006. His talent, versatility and range as a vocalist complimented Canobliss’ style and sound perfectly.
With their newly found line-up, Canobliss independently released their full-length album Liberation of Dissonance on July 21, 2007. Beginning in March '08 Canobliss launched a successful national college radio campaign to promote L.O.D., and hit the number 1 slot at KSLU-1 (St. Louis, MO) and KSAU (Nacogdoches, TX) in addition to breaking the top 10 at several others. L.O.D. was also nominated for the San Diego Music Awards Best Hard Rock Album 2008!
Canobliss then recorded a 7-song EP that was released on July 19, 2008. The EP, entitled Psychothermia, was the sophomore release for the existing lineup and the band feels that it is their strongest release to date. The title track “Psychothermia” was one of 12 to make it onto the Rock 105.3 Loud & Local compilation CD, narrowed down from a field of 135! Canobliss is proud to have completely self-produced their last three albums from start to finish including all tracking, editing, mixing as well as layout and assembling of the artwork. Already, Canobliss has begun writing for a new album with a release scheduled for spring 2010.
Despite many excellent reviews of their albums, it is their high energy live show that fans say keep them coming back for more. In order to spread their sound, Canobliss completed a very successful Southwest USA tour in spring ’09 along with a Northwest USA tour in the summer of ’09. Because of the excellent fan response, they headed out on a return trip across the Southwest USA on their “Desert Debacle” tour in October '09 which ended up surpassing the spring tour in every way. Proof of Canobliss' growing prescence across the Southwest was shown as the band obtained distribution at Zia Records stores in Phoenix, Tucson, & Las Vegas, along with developing connections with several southwest Hot Topic stores.
Over the past few years Canobliss has exhaustively spread their name and music by touring, playing hundreds of live shows, selling thousands of albums, handing out over seven thousand free demos, tagging up countless stickers, developing a strong online presence, receiving radio airplay across the country and creating a full line of merchandise. By exercising extensive promotion and the ability to market themselves, Canobliss has developed a broad and continuously growing fan base without compromising their musical integrity.
PRESS::: Canobliss has been played on over 160 radio stations and podcasts across the country. Canobliss has also enjoyed many radio plays, interviews and appearances on San Diego's Rock 105.3 Loud & Local Show in addition to TV appearances on KOCT in Oceanside, CA and the cable show Music Choice Metal. Canobliss songs have been featured on several extreme sports DVDs including Thunderstruck 8, winner of the 2009 “Xtremey” for Best Snowmobile Film. Their albums have received excellent reviews by several dozen webzines based across the world.
PERFORMANCES::: Canobliss has three tours and hundreds of shows under their belts at a variety of Western USA clubs including but not limited to House of Blues (San Diego), Six Flags Magic Mountain (Valencia), Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (Vallejo), Six Flags Over Texas (Arlington), Whisky A Go Go (Hollywood), The Knitting Factory (Hollywood), Blake’s On Telegraph (Berkeley), The Blvd (Spokane), The Grizzly Rose (Boise), The Rock (Tucson), The Sets (Phoenix), Cheyenne Saloon (Las Vegas), Burt's Tiki Lounge (Albuquerque), & Headhunters (Austin) with excellent response to their energetic live shows. Canobliss has shared the stage with national acts such as Biohazard, Sprung Monkey, Mandy Lion (WWIII), The Iron Maidens, American Head Charge, Godhead, Ankla, Fishbone, and more!

Hey, I spoke to one of my friend that is a local here in Raleigh, and he also suggested the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh, http://www.lincolntheatre.com/, The Mansion in Chapel Hill, http://mansion462.com/, The Cave also in Chapel Hill, http://www.caverntavern.com/, & Jester's Pub in Fayetteville, http://www.jesterspub.com/. Those are just the locals in NC, & I believe that they are smaller than the Trocadero in Philly, so Idk if that would be more in your range. As for Giraffe Records, I will contact him and let him know what's up (:
Hell yeah!!! Psychothermia was my favorite, but they all sound pretty good. Wish i would have known sooner about the show in San Diego!! I can't make it...maybe next show!! Have a kick ass weekend!!! You rock!!
I have plenty of contacts along the East Coast, and it just so happens to be that A friend of mine in West NY has several connections with tons of people out there, so he can more than likely help you get into a place out there. He also got me into contact with a guy named Andy with Giraffe Records who owns his own record label I assume, or so that's what my friend in NY told me. Andy is located here in NC, But about an hour or so up North. & a buddy of mine in Philly told me of two venues that are most popular out there, then being the Trocadero and the Electric Factory or something in that nature. I have it written down on a piece of paper, and it has just so happened to go MIA on me here.. Go figure. Anyway, hit me back and let me know what's up and I'll see if I can get ya'll in contact so you guys can figure out if that's something ya'll would like to do or not. (:
I'll look for some places here if you like. I can ask a couple people, I'm sure they know of some great locations (: I'm not completely familiar with the area yet so I'll find out. (:
Hey! That's awesome! Do ya'll know where you guys will be playing yet? I know of several people who would be interested to watch you guys play if you're to head out here!
Yeah it is a long move, but I just really felt like I needed the change. Cali was just becoming a very depressing place to be for me.
