2004 Haitian Olympian
After an outstanding amateur career, culminating in a berth on the Haitian Olympic team, Andre Berto made the move to professional boxing on December 4, 2004. The power-punching pugilist continues to impress in the ring. His exciting style and charismatic personality have made him one of the sports fastest rising stars and he continues to pile up the victories. With an undefeated record and eight straight knockout victories, Berto€™s stock continues to rise, grabbing the attention of many of the sport€™s experts.
€œOf the class of 2004, most insiders agreed that Berto was as good a prospect as anybody, including the medal winners ShoBox expert analyst Steve Farhood said. He is a great pro prospect because of his natural aggressiveness, his strengths and his punching power. At the age of 22, he has a fully developed mans body. Thus far in his pro career, he has shown a seek-and-destroy approach and it has worked well Berto was an excellent amateur, and as a professional, he has emerged as a top prospect. I have seen several of his bouts and one thing stands out he is an aggressive, crowd-pleasing fighter with good power, but he is also patient when he goes after his opponent, said Dan Rafael of ESPN.com.
"I thought from the beginning he would be an outstanding pro," said Friday Night Fights commentator Teddy Atlas, who covered Berto during the Olympics for NBC Sports. "He has a pleasing style, is strong, and likes to come forward.
Andre is a promising fighter with loads of talent, said George Willis of the New York Post. He could be one of boxing's next superstars.
I remember seeing Berto as an amateur and thinking that he was going to make a terrific pro because of his style, said Tim Smith of the New York Daily News. He's an all-action, power-punching boxer who is not interested in scoring points. He wants to knock the other guy's block off. When he learns to be patient, and learns how to set up things, he will be very dangerous.
It is just a matter of time before Berto becomes one of the best super welterweights around, said Anwar Richardson of The Tampa Tribune. He has the power and quickness to ascend to the top of his division, plus a mental toughness to stay upon his arrival.
Berto is an explosive fighter who is all business in the ring, said Chris Robinson of Doghouseboxing.com. He can either brawl or use his skills to win a fight, and he is extremely strong. He is a no-nonsense type of guy who really looks to make a statement with each fight he has.
Berto continues the impressive strong of boxing standouts from his home state of Florida, and has sparred with former with former World Champions Winky Wright and Jeff Lacy. I helped Wright get ready for his two fights with Shane Mosley,Berto said. I have sparred with Lacy a few times. I spar with Sharmba Mitchell when he comes down to camp in Vero Beach (Fla.).
The 22-year-old comes from a true fighting family, his father Diesuel was an ultimate fighter and passed on the genes to his children. His brother, Cleveland, is a state wrestling champion while older brother Edson competes in No Holds Barred Fighting. The females in the family participate in combat sports as well with both Revelina and Rachelle competing in Karate.

Hey Champ! Good luck with your fight against Victor Ortiz. He's been on a pretty good run since his loss to Maidana. This is your chance to launch yourself into the forefront of the whole sport. I know you won't let the opportunity pass.

GET HELP GETTING FAMOUS FOR REAL!!!!
Am I going to find fights if I go pro without 10 amateur matches? Most of my fights were in prison and I'm 29. I just want to know from someone who's going to tell me the truth. If you have time I'd love to hear what you have to say about it...
Eddie Heredia's Gym seems the place to go... then again I don't want to spend 3 years in the amateurs... You know?
