At Canterbury Institute, we focus on addiction as a brain-based DISEASE that affects a person's actions, not a voluntary behavior that can be simply changed or easily willed away.
Canterbury Institute's treatment programs are REVOLUTIONARY; they are the closest thing we have to a cure.
Medical research has proven that alcohol, drugs, smoking, gambling, and other addictive behaviors are medical diseases associated with biochemical and neurological changes in the brain. Canterbury focuses on correcting these imbalances, which are the single direct cause of the overpowering cravings that lead to relapse.
Combined with a customized nutritional plan and an individualized psycho-social counseling program the institute assists the person to stay on the road to recovery.
At Canterbury Institute we are rethinking addiction. If someone you loved or cared about was to be diagnosed with cancer, your first course of action would be to find the best medical treatment possible, not to give them a lecture. This course of action should hold true with addiction as well.
