At Canterbury Institute, we focus on addiction as a brain-based DISEASE that affects a person's actions, not a voluntary behavior that can be simply changed or easily willed away. Canterbury Institute's treatment programs are REVOLUTIONARY; they are the closest thing we have to a cure. Medical research has proven that alcohol, drugs, smoking, gambling, and other addictive behaviors are medical diseases associated with biochemical and neurological changes in the brain. Canterbury focuses on correcting these imbalances, which are the single direct cause of the overpowering cravings that lead to relapse. Combined with a customized nutritional plan and an individualized psycho-social counseling program the institute assists the person to stay on the road to recovery. At Canterbury Institute we are rethinking addiction. If someone you loved or cared about was to be diagnosed with cancer, your first course of action would be to find the best medical treatment possible, not to give them a lecture. This course of action should hold true with addiction as well. Canterbury Institute believes that we are at an exciting and promising stage in the history of addiction treatment. We are dreaming and working for a day when people do not die from the self-administration of poison against their own will.
Who I'd like to meet:
Testimonials: Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of money on rehab programs, and each time I truly believed in my heart that I was done with drugs, but I still had cravings, and I was still white knuckling it through the programs. I believe that what the PROMETA® Treatment Program has given to my husband and me is priceless. After the PROMETA Treatment Program, I can see that life is worth living, and that getting my miserable life back is not an option. “My daughter tried five different treatment programs with no visible success. I suffered the anguish only a person who loves someone suffering from addiction can truly understand. After my daughter was treated with PROMETA, my hope in her recovery was restored.” *

Hope is always available to us. When we feel defeated, we need only to take a deep breath and say, "Yes," and hope will reappear.
Have a blessed week!

Im writing this comment to Thank Canterbury for helping me with getting sober. Im 25 yrs old and i have been using since i was 15! i have a real good job that i dreamed about since i was a kid, but this did not keep me clean. Ive been in 4 in-patien rehabs 4 outpatient, 6 detoxes and went to AA and none of it could stop me from Doing opiates and smoking crack! At the end it had gotten really bad, i was getting high at work and that put many lives in danger including the men i work with. my home life was just about ruined and since i couldnt afford to live on my own due to the drugs, that I lived with my parents. thank god they never quit on me. well my pop and i went to my works EAP and the counsler explained about canterbury, and i was very skeptical. I dint think anything could get me clean and take away the obsession. Now i lucked out, my dad made me an offer to pay for this if i was willing to do the things i needed to do to stay sober including going back to meetings when i get done. i did not want to but i went, and just knew it was bullshit. when i went i was suprised just how nice everyone was at Canterbury! the doctor explained everything about the treatment and toldme i also have to work a twelve step program if i really want long term sobriety!!! after each day of treatment my obsession has gotten less and less. but since the day i got home i have not had one obsession, i havve had thoughts but i ask God to take them away as soon as they come. im still sober after almost 6 months and i am still going to AA meetings almost every day and im doing what they ask of me. Life isnt perfect but it is 100xs better than it was 6 months ago and i owe alot ofit to canterbury. If anyone wanhts to ask me personal questions about the treatment feel free to send me a message, Id be glad to help. but If your serious about getting sober Canterbury will give you the start you need.
Thanks again for everything!
