Greetings from The Blue Butterfly, located at the west end of Canterbury Square with the blue door and blue shutters! My name is Amber Shannon and I created The Blue Butterfly to educate the South Florida community about organic and fair trade clothing, and to provide a healthy, socially conscious option to the conventional, toxic clothing available in most stores today. Did you know that cotton is responsible for 25% of the world's insecticide use? Did you know that it takes 1/3 of a pound of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides to grown enough cotton for one t-shirt? Did you know that sweatshops still exist, and are thriving today? Did you know that you have an alternative?! Well you do, right here at The Blue Butterfly!!
I carefully research each line of clothing I carry, and ONLY carry lines that are organic/eco-friendly and fair trade! Established by Steve Casper and his son in 1973, Canterbury Square consists of two quaint rows of shops nestled in the heart of Dania Beach. Steve's vision was to provide a place where people just starting a business could afford to open a store front.
Built to look like a 1300's English village during Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, Canterbury Square embodies that vision with charm and artistic flair. Over the years the Square has been home to many up and coming business owners with the dream of establishing themselves successfully in the business world.
