The Mountain is an old west town. It is nestled on a wooded hillside two blocks
east of downtown Canton, Texas located just one hour East of Dallas on I-20.
Overnight lodging, unique shops and restaurants line the winding streets. Many
of the shop owners dress in period clothing.
The B & B's are nestled on the rustic wooded hillside of The Mountain in Canton,
Texas. The Mountain is a replica of an 1880's old west town, is open on First
Monday Trade Day's weekend and is full of shops, restaurants and Bed and
Breakfasts/Baths.
There are Crafts, Arts, Antiques, Flea Market, Food, Native American Indian Arts
& Crafts, Music, Street Entertainment, Demonstrating Artists and Craftsmen, Free
Admission and Western storefronts are located on a gentle East Texas hillside
where the beautiful tree-shaded Old West atmosphere takes you back in time and
history. Over 100 antique and crafts shops with new attractions opening each
month. Open First Monday Weekends (the weekend prior to the first Monday of each
month.
On any given month there will be 3,000 to 7,000 vendors offering their wares,
and during the biggest ones which occur in May and October, the number of
sellers might swell to 15,000 families or more. Visitors from hundreds of miles
around come to shop until they drop, and visit.
There are more than ten miles of trails through the Canton First Monday Trade
Days grounds, and upwards of half a million visitors. The town of Canton boasts
that they are the Largest Outdoor Flea Market in America. This festival goes on
every month of the year, rain or shine, you will find plenty of vendors and lots
of visitors.
