"I'm the favorite son of two music teachers. My mother teaches choral music and has perfect pitch, and my father is a classically-trained graduate of the Hartt School of Music. When I turned 6, they handed me a trumpet and I practiced it an hour a day, everyday, for the next ten years. When I hit 15, I began to DJ, and by 16 I was already a college radio host. In the spring of 1998, I joined the infamous Weekend Wrecking Crew (WRAS Atlanta, 88.5) and started my long tenure as a staff writer and featured columnist for Elemental Magazine. Chris "Chrisco" Hall and I started Rent Money Records in Feb of 2000, and in Jan 2006, we created World Famous Magazine. As a DJ, I've shared the bill with greats like Klever, Drama, Applejac & Jaycee and in 2006 I was selected as the DJ for MTV's "Making the Band 3" Wrap Party in Manhattan. As a writer, it's been a distinct pleasure to interview legends like the late Jay Dee (Dilla), Roy Ayers, The Delfonics, Spinners, David Porter, Les McCann, David Axelrod, Hugh Masekela, Gwen McCrae, New Birth, Jazzberry Patch, RAMP, Large Professor, Pete Rock, Gangstarr, Blackstar, Beatnuts, Diamond D, Lord Finesse, Buckwild, T-Ray, Prince Paul, Masta Ace, King Britt, Stat Quo, Spinna, Rueben Wilson, Lonnie Smith, The Headhunters, Clarence Wheeler & the Enforcers, The Sons of Champlin, Tyrone Thomas & the Whole Darn Family, Young-Holt, Black Merda, Bernard Purdie, Gary Burton, Eugene McDaniels, Thom Bell, Tom Scott, and Jack Bruce of Cream."
