Canvey Island is a dreary seaside town overlooked by oil refineries on the Essex coast. It is also the stage name of solo artist Chris Farrance. A unique performer, Chris loops vocals (likened to Thom Yorke and Elliott Smith), guitar (lead, rhythm and percussion parts), drums, E-bow, xylophone, and anything else at hand. He builds layer upon layer throughout his songs, giving the sonic illusion of an entire band. His shows are always energetic and interesting.
WELCOME TO Canvey Island!

Honest life commentary embedded in haunting melodies.
Like a family argument on holiday.
CANVEY ISLAND IS NOT AN ACOUSTIC ACT. I SAY THIS BECAUSE I LOOP GUITARS, VOCALS, E-BOW, XYLOPHONE AND DRUMS AMONGST MANY OTHER THINGS AND SOME VENUES CANNOT ACCOMMODATE THIS, ESPECIALLY ACOUSTIC ONES!!!!! IF YOU ARE AN ACOUSTIC VENUE I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO PLAY BUT MY LIVE SHOW CONSISTS OF WHAT I JUST SAID SO IF THIS IS POSSIBLE THEN GREAT LETS HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!
Canvey Island is young singer/songwriter Chris Farrance from Essex.

Hey, I like the new recordings. Have you done something different? They sound more dynamic somehow, with a different feel to the live show. I know nothing about music! I didn't notice at Catch, but you have a sort of mellowed-out Bright Eyes thing going on.
I'll try and make it down to one of your gigs soon. I'll definitely be at Under Solo anyway.
Good to meet you the other night. Yeah our set went well....there was like 4 people in the room so we just thought "f*ck it, were just going to have a laugh and go for it", which is what we did really. Sorry that you had technical difficulties. It sucks when that happens but I still enjoyed your set. Hopefully we'll be on the same bill again soon. Good luck with all your up coming gigs.
P.S. Did you hear back from the people who run 333 at all. We weren't sure if it was supposed to be a competition or something. If it was I don't know who won.
that sounds like a weapon from thundercats or something. I'm scared and a little bit excited! Getting the line up for that night finalised this week as well as the flyer so will be bombarding you with info shortly!!
Hi! My managing roster is currently full as is my promoting list! As you can see from my Top Friends-I do work for many people. I do, however, have openings on my radio show for new music :) Please send your two favorite MP3s to me here: cindy@us.dadamofamily.com Also send some interesting facts, career news, etc. I will let you know when I get the music, and add it to my library. I DJ at Radio Ugly (radiougly. com) in NY.
Just to let you know I've added Guidelines as our profile tune for the next week or so to give our fans a taste or two of your music. I will get the full July line-up for the ginglik to you shortly.
hello, and well done also last night, your voice is gorgeous, and i had no idea one man could do all that, i've never seen anything like it haha. Unless I've lead a very sheltered life, that was amazing!
Thanks Chris... Yeah just the two of us now!!! Its like an episode of Terry and June!!! Hope all is well... Hello to Paul for me... Hopefully we can do a gig together soon!!! x x x
ps/// We’ve just had our old profile hacked into and deleted. If you could send out a bulletin telling your friends about our page we’d be very grateful!
noice one. Canvey has one strange feeling about it, though the only semi really good thing to come from it (in recent years at least, discounting doctor feelgood) is josh off the horrors.
I'd be more than happy to see you live in the probably not too distant future
