About Cape First Worship

Brent Anderson serves as worship pastor at Cape First Assembly in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and is in the process of expanding one of the fastest growing churches in Southern Missouri by opening their doors to the world.

The Cape First Worship department has a desire to lead people into the presence of God. “Our hearts desire is that this CD would serve as an extension of our vision” says Anderson, to “create an environment for the presence of God and to lead the congregation into a lifestyle of praise and worship.” John 4:23-24

The Cape First Worship Team is made up of a variety of talented musicians and vocalists ranging from students to supervisors. There are 13 musicians and vocalists who participated in this project as well as the Cape First worship choir. Cape First is a contemporary, Spirit filled church. Many of the songs sung at Cape First are originals from within the worship department.

Brent Anderson is the main contributor on the album and wrote his first song at age 12. He has been writing ever since. “To Know Your Heart” is one of Brent’s originals written during an incredibly inspiring, forty day fast, about a year and a half ago. Brent felt that his life was calling for something greater than anything he had ever done, sacrifice. He felt the need for God and to be closer to Him than ever before. About three weeks into the fast he sat down at his keyboard to worship and “To Know Your Heart” was born.

Brent often encourages his “band” to put down their instruments and raise their arms in praise if compelled to do so. “During the worship the presence of God becomes very, very heavy.” Brent speaks humbly and takes little credit for the songs he has written or the melodic perfection of his worship team, as he states it’s something that “just kind of happens...”

What happened next was a meeting with the legendary Billy Smiley, and what ultimately resulted in a recording contract with Devotion Music, a record label under Universal Music Group.
