About me: Molo is CapeTownMagazine.com, Born on 14 November 2005, and only really coming alive in 2006 my Mission in Life was to be a internet magazine that could reach people all over the world -bigger then any print magazine- and mix music with things to do, from clubs to news, from world cup to social projects, from 5 star to 0 star.
Basically who I am myself. Therefor I became the logo of CapeTownMagazine.com, since I ve been that 'best friend' in Cape Town for many overseas people over the years..; "Ask Molo" they said to anyone going to Cape Town; "he will let you find places that you might not go to yourself, but he will make you tick, trust him..
Now we've got hundread of thousands of readers , from Japan to Canada, from Brasil to Holland, and thousands of subscribers to the newsletter of
www.capetownmagazine.com
I was lazing sunny days at Caprice, regular chairweight at Ganesh, diner at 95, hanging out at Mzoli's, cruising the Cape Grace on friday (sometimes), or dancing on the bar in Rafikis (more times), celebrating new years in the cederbergs to in the Ivory room, or on the street clubs to clubs, sky diving melkbos to working on my Imba Yehvu project every sunday in Phillipi and beach batting in clifton to batting sandflies in smitswinkel bay.
That's what I do now for "the main group of people coming to Cape Town, or hearing about Cape Town".
'I' is now '8 people' and we're loving it.
Have you listened to some SA Music in my 'Pulse' Section?
From Goldfish to Miriam Makeba (respect grand dame), from Cape Town 2AM to Hugh Masekela (respect a real mfowhetu). Be prepared for club and/or paranga music, mafikizolo to vinnie da vinci, but also vaillant swart and Bazwaana.
Subscribe to my newsletter (free). Thousands have done it, and it's the easiest way to stay in touch: www.capetownmagazine.com/subscribe
Better yet, do so since we will be bringing out some incredibly unique t-shirts that will refine a cool local tshirt (apart from Craig Native's Gugulethu Shirts)
We still know the design hotels on Long (cheap to less cheap) the township stays in Langa and Nyanga, and the Five Star places that guarantee privacy.
p.s So, you can tell your old one's about me too. we cater for them as well ;-) actually a big chunk of our readers is above 40, and a big chunk is 18-40 too.
Big chunk of readers we have: 350,000 in this year, and probalby 800,000+ by the end of the year.
To the future
Who I'd like to meet: Ms H.S. Balls, but not on a friday night at 02h, rather when breakfast's ready. otherwise just good vibes. Oh, and Marcus Garvey, David Gray, DJ Christos, Mafikizolo, Cokey Falkow, Ben Harper and Curtis Mayfield.
After almost three years of being a band, we've finally knuckled down
to release an album. To celebrate this momentous occasion we're throwing three parties. It would be nice to have you there.
