Sounds Like
When the physical identity of members of your family is replaced by that of complete strangers.
Capgras Family are a new four-piece band featuring former and present members of
• Lacto Ovo (Lost and Lonesome [Aus] and Smokey Lung [US])
• Mid-State Orange (Lost and Lonesome);
• City City City (Inertia) and;
• Sly-Hats (Remote Control).
Their sound is a strange mix of ambient melancholy and quirky pop sensibilities perhaps recalling the early period of Lacto Ovo. This is not surprising given that the band has three members of that band. Just like Lacto Ovo this band never really stays in the same spot either emotionally or sonically. Think maybe a dash of Broadcast, a tinge of Broken Social Scene and a spot of Yo La Tengo.
They have just completed a nine track album recorded by Neil Thomason at Head Gap studios and mastered by John Golden from Golden Mastering. Will be playing live in Melbourne soon.
oh, you know, just finished up that job i was doing. thinking about what you said the other day. makes a lot of sense, now. i guess if i had known at the time i would have offered to do the grouting myself. i mean those tiles did cost a lot of money. and then there's the 6 hour drive and the cost of the trailer hire. i think those damn tandems only carry 700kg. are you still going deep sea fishing on the weekend? i was gonna call macka and tell him to book another spot at the white lodge. you got a date wednesday, baby!
bumming around.. playing some gigs and working unfortunately in schlecker jobs.. it is so good to hear from you guys, please stay in touch.. what is new with you? are you a lawyer yet or what?
sorrows of an american by siri hustvedt. the main character's a psychiatrist... maybe the disorder's just a really good way of explaining the feeling you get watching a cover band- they look like def leppard, and they sound like them... but something's just a little off... maybe cause i'm watching them in an RSL in croydon?
wow. this is very exciting to hear from you.. i often get songs from "shoes and you" floating into my head (right now; 'the river' he he) and think to myself, i wonder how you guys are doing. we are slumming it out in berlin believe it or not. tough, but rewarding.. your songs won't load so can't hear them yet but will try again tomorrow.. stay in touch. eliza xoxo
