The Boston contemporary music and art communities have come together for the first ever showing of their collected original artwork in a gallery setting provided by the Honan-Allston Branch of the Boston Public Library through its librarian Sarah Markell. The showing scheduled for Friday May 1, 2009 was the brainchild of local photographer (and show curator) Nicole Tammaro. Tammaro had conceptualized the show many months ago but she encountered much resistance within the Boston gallery scene. When push came to shove gallery owners thought a show produced by Boston punk musicians was too much of a risk for them to actually book. Hence the library setting.
While some of the musicians are veterans of gallery showings much of the work to be displayed was produced by musicians who had never picked up a pencil or brush but, excited by the opportunity to show a visual side, have worked many months on their works. All in all it will be a great opportunity to view a variety of styles and genres in a setting that shows a different side of these popular musicians. The high-brow Boston art scene may never recover.
Oi! Thanks for the Add. You guys have some sick material! Hope you enjoy our tunes as well. Everyone in our band except our rhythm guitarist has reached the 3+. Keep the faith and keep rockin'. Cheers, Jesse
