    Cap'n Dave's Interests
GeneralI have a wide range of interests. Of course dinosaurs and paleontolgoy top the list, but I'm also interested in living animals (I'm really into cats, reptiles, sharks, whales, and birds of prey), politics, military history, general history, Las Vegas (my home), toy collecting, movies (mostly sci fi), fine art, cooking, and many other things.
MusicOne minute I'm listening to classical music and the next I'm listening to Rob Zombie. I also love Bond, twelvegirslband, Rammstein, David Bowie (mostly his older stuff), Queen, Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Devo, The Wicked Tinkers, and Richard Kean. I think the Kill Bill Vol 1 soundtrack is the best album in history.
MoviesMy favorite movie is Aliens, but I love most sci fi, action, comedy. Basically I'm into guy movies, but I will watch something intellectual from time to time too. And I also like many of the classics of the 1930's and '40's. Some of my favorite movies include Star Wars (IV-VI), Saving Private Ryan, King Kong (1933), almost anything with Erol Flynn, Sin City, 300, Reno 911, Borat, The African Queen, the entire Alien series, all the Star Trek movies (except 5), Serenity, Kill Bill Vol I & II, and many more. The funniest movie ever made was Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
TelevisionMy favorite show is the new Battlestar Galactica on SFC. I also enjoy the Star Trek Series, Black Adder, Red Dwarf, MST3K, Reno 911, Family Guy, Monty Python, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, UFO, Mythbusters, Junkyard Wars, any Dinosaur documentary on Discovery, and the news.
BooksLately I read mostly non-fiction. Dinosaur books, history books, science books mostly. To give my brain a rest I'll read Star Trek books.
HeroesThere are many people that I admire. The authors of the constitution top the list. I admire many of the people who do the paleontology science that allows me to educate and entertain people with my shows. I admire folks who toil away to do their jobs to provide for their families and to make this a better country. I definetly admire the men and women in the U.S. Military (both past and present). I especially admire my dear friend Julia who has recently turned her life around through her own hard work and determination and with her special relationship with God. About me:
Hi! Are you a kid, or just a kid at heart? Does the thought of a T-Rex on the hunt get your heart racing? Ever wonder what those plates on a Stegosaurus were really for? Well, me too! Dinosaurs are my passion and I’ve been studying them since I was five years old, and if you’re in Nevada, Utah, Arizona, or Southern California, I’d like to share that passion with you and your organization. I’m a nationally recognized educator and teacher with over 12 years experience as a military instructor and have been teaching about dinosaurs and other paleontology topics since 2001. In that time I’ve cultivated a funny, audience-friendly delivery style and a reputation for making technical and scientific topics easy for everyone to understand. I’m knowledgeable in a broad range of topics that fall under the heading of paleontology. Some of the presentations I’ve given in the past include “What Jurassic Park Got Wrong" and “T. Rex: Predator or Scavenger?" If these shows don't meet your desires just let me know and I can gin up a presentation that will. I can tailor my presentations to your needs and capabilities, with shows ranging from straight lecture with props to multimedia and Power Point if you have computerized projection equipment. So if you want to know what kind of creatures used to live in your area, or just want to get back in touch with that inner kid, let me be your guide. Please e-mail me for availability.
